I volunteer with a new rescue called and I'm fostering these 3 fox cubs.
They were found in a dumpster by a JCB driver so I've decided to name them after members of the band,
So please meet, Shirley, Duke and Butch 🥰
They're just starting to open their eyes and need regular feeds, night and day 😅 they're hard work but I love every second ,🥰

Happy New Year 🎊

Sorry for being away for so long. It's been a tough few months. In August my beautiful lurcher, Clive passed away suddenly & my auntie and my Nana both passed away in November 😔💔.
In happier news we have finally moved out of Dublin and now live in Laois. It's beautiful here, with lots of mountain and forest walks for the dogs.
We adopted two very cheeky donkeys, Fionn and Fiachra. Fionn is a very nervous boy but Fiachra has come out of his shell a lot in the last few weeks.
We still haven't sorted the internet so might not be posting very often for another while but hope to have something in the next few weeks.
We've also taken Twigs the cat 😊 She's 17 and deaf. She was the local cat that all the neighbours fed but no one wanted to take inside. She absolutely loves being an indoor cat, getting spoilt rotten as she deserves.

Looking for help please 💔
My beautiful boy, Clive passed away over 3 weeks ago. It was very unexpected, he was only 8 😥
Our wonderful vets, posted out his paw prints but they have gone missing in the post. They were posted the day after he passed away so they definitely should be here by now.
Clive was a very special boy and we're missing him so much. The paw prints were something I was counting on, something to have that was unique to him. He had a deformed paw as well so these would have been very different prints. We have them for all our dogs who have passed away and it's bad enough losing him so young but not having these prints is horrible.

Sorry it's been quiet here. We've had an awful few weeks 🥺 my beautiful baby boy, Clive passed away after a very short illness. I'm taking time away to grieve and spend time with the others ❤️

It's so hard to believe he's gone 💔

My poor little man isn't well and the vets aren't sure what's wrong so we're back for tests tomorrow if he isn't any better 💖

Everyone is probably sick of seeing posts about this now but there are still so many people out walking their dogs in the heat today.
A few years ago one of my dogs had to spend the day on a drip in the vets because he had overheated. He had a walk first thing that morning and wasn't in the garden too much but it was enough to make him very sick. He's the typical sun-worshipping lurcher but we can't let him sunbathe too much.

There are lots of different brain games you can give your dogs to keep them entertained during the day - Kongs, K9 Connectables (see my previous post for a discount of these!), lickimats. You could play scent games with your dogs as well.

Walks first thing in the morning or last thing at night. its just not worth the risk.

Our walks started at half 6 this morning and it was still roasting!

Amber had a great run and will spend the rest of the day in the cool house and in the shade in the garden 😊

This is especially true for sighthounds! They are very vulnerable to heat stroke. My lot have their cooling mats and plenty of water but they're only going for walks first thing in the morning or late at night

Ollie can be a very anxious dog but he has a few of his own coping mechanisms.
This is him kneading and sucking on his blanket after he became a bit overwhelmed with things. He always has access to this blanket and he knows this is the one he can chew.
It's a behaviour puppies do when they're still suckling from their mam and it can be a very calming behaviour when adult dogs do this so I don't discourage it at all.
There have been some studies done that suggest that it's usually seen in adult dogs who were taken from their mothers at a very young age but this hasn't been proven yet.

Sustained Hand Touch
I always teach this to new clients, because it can be useful in so many situations.
Clive has hurt his back paw and needs to soak it for 10 mins a few times a day. He hates water and doesn't like staying still. He completely forgot about his paw in the water while he worked on his hand touch 😊

Excuse the mess in the background, we're moving house and have boxes everywhere!

Happy Gotcha Day to my beautiful lady, Neasa ❤️🎉
She's been in our family for 4 years now but it feels like she's always been here. She's 14 and doesn't have any teeth left but that doesn't bother her at all.

So many people underestimate how important play is! Play with your dogs everyday and if you say your dog doesnt like to play it might just be that you're going around it the wrong way.

Ylva is one of the dogs I've had the pleasure to work with for one of my case studies. Unfortunately, I never got to meet her in person because of covid restrictions but maybe we will meet one day.
Her family have been amazing at putting the plans into place and she is making great progress.
For Ylva we put in place a behaviour modification program that suits both her and her family.
She is a beautiful girl and very lucky to be in such a caring home 💚
They still have my full support for as long as needed.
My next case study is a little dog who is very reactive on walks and to people passing by his house. Really looking forward to finding out all about him.

Recall training game that dogs always love 😊
Drop yummy treats on the ground for them to find and run away. Just as they finish the treats and turn to run to you, call them and drop more treats at your feet.
When they get to you, run off again and repeat.

And no laughing at my running 😂 I had a stone in my boots 🙈
