Five years ago, we gathered to honour the life of John Gallagher, late of the Liberties. It’s hard to believe how quickly time has flown.
I often think back to that day—a poignant reminder of the importance of community and connection. John’s funeral was a stark moment in my memory; it was a quiet gathering, void of family. Yet, in that silence, we became his family, coming together to celebrate a remarkable life.
This experience reinforced for me the power of support and solidarity in times of grief. It thought us that while family can be defined by blood, it can also be formed through shared experiences and mutual respect.
As we remember John today, let’s carry forward that spirit of connection in our lives and workplaces. Let’s continue to support one another, because we never know the impact our presence can have on someone’s life.
