I'm looking to see if there is interest in having an enclosed 'hire per hour' field where you can go and have fun with your dog. Comment below if and how often would you use such service (10e for 30min or 18e for an hour).

Please don't give your dog anything containing rawhide.

Please think twice before buying these treats, and if your dog receives one as a gift, it’s best to throw it away. Rawhide chews may seem like a fun treat, but they can pose serious risks to your dog’s health.

Unfortunately, many of these so-called β€œtreats” often lead to emergency vet visits, especially around the holidays. Most rawhide products are made from cattle or horse hides, and the process to make them involves harmful chemicals. First, the hides are soaked in toxic sodium sulfide to remove hair and fat. Then, they’re treated with additional chemicals to split the hides into layers, followed by hydrogen peroxide to make them look white and fresh while masking any rancid smell. After that, festive colors and glue are added to shape them into cute designs. Tests have even found traces of arsenic, mercury, chromium, and formaldehyde in these chews.

On top of the chemical concerns, rawhide is a major choking hazard and can cause serious intestinal blockages. When wet, the chews become slippery, making it difficult to grab if your dog starts choking. These risks are sadly more common than many people realize.

For your dog’s safety, it’s best to avoid rawhide entirely. Instead, try healthier, natural options like bully sticks, yak chews, or vet-approved dental treats. For dogs that love to chew, durable toys made from rubber or nylon are great alternatives. And while these options are safer, no chew is completely risk-free, so always supervise your dog while they enjoy their treats.

Keeping our pets happy and safe is what matters most. A little extra care can go a long way in protecting their health.

2 Day Workshop with

Attention. You do not want to miss this.

Air scent and Cadavar workshops happening in Carlow this October. Lead by the ever talented Eadoine from Hounds and Helis, it's a weekend not to be missed.
If you've ever wanted to try your dog out in either of these sports then now is the time.

Saturday the 26th of October is Air scent day.
You will be put through the basics and your dog will be given the chance to air scent. All done under supervision.
An Air Scent dog works off lead, under the direction of the handler to search an area to find a person. This life saving skill is used by Search and Rescue Teams across the world. With Hounds and Heli’s, Air Scent Search is not just for use by professionals but is also a great activity for anyone who wants to spend quality time with their dog.

Sunday the 27th of October is Cadavar day.
You will be put through the paces and you and your dog will be given a chance to try out this amazing activity.
Cadaver dog training involves teaching dogs to detect the scent of human remains. They do this by locating the scent particles in the air and following them to the source. Cadaver dogs can work both on and off lead and will work in versatile environments including urban, rural, buildings, farmyards, farmland, forestry and will generally wear either a harness or a high visibility jacket.

Both days have limited numbers for dogs but no fear, if you don't nab a spot with your dog you can still come as a spectator πŸ’ͺπŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»

If you'd like to find out more information or book one or both these days - send me a text on 085 1119649.

It's gonna be epic. 🀩
