⚠️CAUTION: IMAGES OF NEEDLES AND SURGERY⚠️
Millie was in recently for a laparoscopic spay💫
A Lap spay or keyhole spay is performed through two or three small incisions in the abdomen. 🩺
The procedure is performed using a camera to magnify the internal organs. 📸
A study concluded that lap spays cause less surgical stress and less post operative pain than a tradition open surgical spay.🤩 Here was Millie enjoying the sunshine after her laparoscopic spay! 💖
It’s tick season🤮
Tick season usually runs April until October.
They are parasites that feed on the blood of mammals and spread diseases🫣
Ticks can be found in wooded areas and in areas of high grass and they can be an issue for both us humans and pets!
If you do find a tick on your pet it must be twisted out gently and the full head must be removed. 🕷️
Prevention is the best treatment, make sure your pet is up to date with their flea and tick treatments all year round. ☀️
Have a look at this creepy crawly tick that we found on a patient yesterday🥴
Jules just woke up from his anaesthetic after being neutered and is very confused about where his very special jewels have gone!

Meet Lola Eve💞 Lola was a very happy confident puppy, but something unknown to her owner spooked Lola, which made her very nervous around people. We decided to help Lola Eve to get back her confidence!
We arranged weekly social visits where we had play time and lots of treats, while staying calm and not putting pressure on Lola to do anything she didn’t want to.Her owner was very committed to these visits and after 2 months we finally got back the Lola Eve that we all love. She is back greeting every person she meets and loves coming to visit us.
We are so happy to see the results, well done Lola Eve.
Barnaby was very brave getting his microchip. He barely reacted when the needle went in (and it’s quite a big needle) but with a little distraction with the lick mat it made the whole experience so much nicer for him.
It’s lunchtime for Shanel and what better post surgery treat then some fruity smoothie

Happy Easter Weekend.
We hope everyone is enjoying the beautiful weather we are getting at the moment.
There are many things we can do with our pets to keep them entertained and active at home. Here’s Willow enjoying some apple bobbing while keeping cool. (Always remove the core and pips of apples before giving them to dogs)
We would love to see some pictures of your pets and things you do to keep them entertained at home.

Happy Friday!!!
The girls in Kinsale Road decided to change things up for lunch today😂😂
They’ve challenged the other sunbeam clinics to take part so please give them all a bit of encouragement🤣
We’d love to see families at home taking part too, it’s definitely a bit of entertainment during lockdown

As pet dental month is coming to a close we would like to highlight the importance of brushing your pets teeth.
Meet our volunteer Spencer. Spencer gets his teeth brushed on a daily basis at home to prevent tartar and plaque build up. This takes a minimum amount of time to do and as you can see he doesn't mind at all.
Getting pets comfortable with this process may take a few sessions so don't give up. Teeth brushing is not just for dogs, cats and ferrets also benefit from this.
For more information on teeth brushing why not make an appointment with one of our Veterinary Nurses.
