This lovely hedgehog was found by a client this morning on the lawn. Hedgehogs are not normally found out in the open during the daytime so the finder was concerned that she may be sick. After spending a few hours in the clinic and getting fed some cat food she was given a clean bill of health and sent hope to her own environment where she was seen scuttling back to her home in the woods ❤️ 🦔
Meet Ella - a gorgeous 6 month old puppy who was unfortunate enough to become infected with parvovirus. Her lovely owner brought her to us after she stopped eating and began vomiting and having diarrhoea.
When she arrived she was very poorly and her chances of pulling through were slim. Thankfully we all decided she was worth taking a chance on to see how she would respond to treatment.
She spent 4 nights in the veterinary equivalent of intensive care - receiving fluids via an IV drip, getting lots of different injections in order to help her pull through this awful virus.
Many pups who get this virus do not make it so it was the best surprise ever when Ella started to eat again and perk up!
She was discharged home last night for some TLC with her loving owner and I think you can see how happy she was to be finally leaving the vets!
Hopefully she will continue to thrive and be one of the lucky ones who survived parvo!
We feel so lucky and privileged to have met Ella and her owner - and to have been able to help Ella get better ♥️
Check out the comments for some photos of Ella feeling less than happy in her kennel after being with us a few days - we didn’t actually take any pictures when she first arrived as we really did fear the worst!
Have you ever seen a puppy so happy to be at the vets? 🥰🥰🥰
Rolo was into us earlier this week as her appetite had gone way down. She was very off form and only eating a third of her normal amount.
After visiting us and getting some treatment she’s now back to her former glory - happily eating again! We love to see a good outcome! 🥰🥳

Newborn lambs
Some Valentine’s Day lambs born yesterday!
Luckily, despite being a difficult lambing, both lambs were alive and well! ♥️
Sheep scab!
A common disease during the winter months, sheen scab is caused by a mite - Psoroptes ovis.
🐑 causes intense itching and wool loss
🐑 in severe cases can be debilitating and can cause loss of condition and even death
🐑 is spread from sheep to sheep via close contact
🐑 mites can live up to 17 days away from the host (sheep) making it a challenging disease to control
🐑 must be differentiated from lice as symptoms can be similar
🐑 there is a blood test that can detect early infection before any symptoms are present
🐑 treatment can be either by injection or plunge bath but treatment must be tailored to each farm
