It’s a lovely site to see when a dog jumps up on the table to get dried 😍

Grooming isn’t a thing dogs particularly like, they don’t book themselves in for someone to use a machine on them to cut or dry their hair and they certainly don’t book themselves in for water to be sprayed on them.

It is important to me to take time and help dogs through the groom so it doesn’t stress them. Simple changes means so much to dogs.

This girl is one of those that came and initially she had to go home towel dried as she was petrified of the dryer.

Her owners have been so good with doing some work with her at home while I conditioned the grooming experience.

Delighted to see that she is happily going through the full groom and when finished happy to stay on the table and sleep it off.
😍❤️

Just in case you are one of the lucky ones to get a hedgehog in your garden or see one somewhere

If you find a "dead" hedgehog during the cold months, do not bury it, do not throw it in the trash...
No one wants to see a dead animal in their garden or road, but it could be a hedgehog hibernating from November to March.
They usually dig holes to stay safe, but we have less green areas, bushes or wooded areas these days and it’s becoming harder to find a safe place to spend the winter sleeping.

Some may come into your gardens seeking safety and warmth to hibernate, some are so exhausted from looking that they end up sleeping in various strange places like roadside streets or even on pavements.

When they are in hibernation, their heart rate and general body functioning slow down considerably, as a way of saving energy that can confuse a person that the hedgehog is dead.

Just in case you see a stationary hedgehog, make sure it is in a safe and warm place and that it can last five months.

If you find a hedgehog in your garden or somewhere on the street, make a hole in a cardboard box and in a dry, safe and quiet place so it can spend the cold months there.

Hedgehogs are an endangered species, they are completely harmless and very important in our ecosystem. They eat beetles, snails, frogs, lizards, snakes, including poisonous.

They also destroy mice nests.

They are not afraid of bees or wasps. The hedgehog can easily destroy a hornet's nest and eat its inhabitants by ignoring their bites.

Scientists have long noticed the immunity of hedgehogs to strong poisons, including bites from insects. This antidote phenomenon is not yet known to scientists.

Be aware when you see a hedgehog in the cold months. It costs nothing to help such a fragile wee thing.

Let's be kind to animals!

Dog Trainer: Bernadette Kelly

I'm Bernadette Kelly, a certified dog trainer and behaviour consultant. I live in South Donegal and cover the surrounding areas. I am currently the proud owner of 4 dogs Chocolate Labrador, American Akita, Border Collie and a Chow Chow. I am privileged to have such a mix of dogs and each one of these have played a part in me becoming a dog trainer.

I am certified Canine Behaviour & Training with Elista Education. I am currently an active member of the Pro Dog Trainer community and have the privileged to be mentored and trained by Lauren Langman (Crufts agility winner and has captained The Team GB agility) and Tom Mitchell a renowned vet behaviourist and trainer.

I am passionate about being able to help others with their dogs. Being a Pro Dog Trainer means teaching dogs through a games based method. This training method really and truly gives real life results in the most positive way possible through teaching our dog to have fun. Reward based training through games is the most up to date training techniques and is becoming wildly used is dog rescue centers. I am excited to show you a way where you will gain the trust and build a relationship beyond your imagination with your dog(s). Your dog(s) will seek you out, wanting to be with you and you will build an unconditional bond with them where they will respond to you.

This training is not about a quick fix, as we know quick fixes only last for a short time and then you are back to where you started. I will educate you on why your dog is reacting the way it is and I will work with you and give you a plan where you will get the dog you always wanted. In doing this you will learn how to help and manage your dog and I will work with you and breakdown your end goal into more manageable steps.
