Delighted to have been asked to judge at in 2026! This is an excellent event that I have had the pleasure of competing in before, and it is an honor to be coming back this time as a judge! Can’t wait for this ☺️
**Introducing our home grown judge for 2026, Tom O’Mahony ICMG MCG
Tom O’Mahony graduated from Sparsholt College in Hampshire, England in 2006 where he earned a Diploma in Animal Management. He has been a professional dog groomer since 2007 and quickly dived into everything dog grooming related. He opened his own state of the art Master dog grooming salon in 2022 called WHO’S A GOOD DOG?
With many competitions and awards under his belt, both nationally and internationally, Tom has always had success in the competitive ring, with most of his focus being on breed standard trims. Tom is best known for competing and winning classes up-to and including championship level across the various grooming techniques, making him an excellent all-round dog groomer, but with a special interest in terriers. He also has both national and international handstrip technique success with Miniature Schnauzers.
Tom is passionate about providing education and up-skilling to groomers, and on this basis co-founded SSWAGD Education in 2024, delivering a string of successful events such as seminars, workshops, webinars and educational short videos on social media. He has also had the pleasure of providing both private and group training for groomers in his WHO’S A GOOD DOG? salon, with many of these students going forward to achieve their own qualifications up to Master level, and achieving success in the competitive grooming world.
Over his career Tom has pushed himself by gaining many qualifications in dog grooming such as a City & Guilds Diploma in 2014, OCNNI Mastercraftsman in 2018 and most recently he achieved his ICMG in 2025 making Tom a double Master qualified dog groomer, which marked a career highlight for him.
Tom has had the pleasure of judging a number of dog grooming competitions in Ireland and enjoys giving informed, educated, encouraging and fair evaluations whilst judging.**
