Just a update to services folks with new legislation regarding dogs with cropped ears. Its now and offence for a transporter to have a dog with cropped ears on board in Republic of Ireland regardless if the ears were cropped before or after the 1st September 2023. Penalties of up to 6 months in prison and a fine of €250k per offence.

Owners MUST be in possession of a licence from Department Of Agriculture to allow the dog to be transported. They have told me its a 10 day application process for owners but theres a fee aswell for this. Anyone looking for us to transport dogs that have cropped ears MUST be booked in 20 days in advance of travel, This allows us to verify with DAFM and the VHO that everything is in order.

I know the legislation states Importing dogs requires a licence but ive been on the phone with both DAFM & VHO today and they both stated i cant even transport them from one location to another inside of Ireland. Ive been told today as of the 1st sept 2023 Garda also have been informed to peform spot checks on transport vans aswell.

If you need any info on how to apply for a licence i can give you the link to the form and where to send it to if it helps.
