These lovely dogs had a huge amount of coat removed this week. The Siberian Husky had a Deshed treatment and the Irish Terrier enjoyed some Hand Stripping. Both skilful and beneficial methods of grooming based on their particular coat type. Well done team Canine Creations 🥳🥳🥳🥳👏👏👏👏🤩🤩🤩🤩

It gives us great pleasure to style poodles in their traditional trims which some say originated from the 16th century! We love the history behind this breed and how their different styles came about.
Poodles were bred for use as water retrievers. Parts of them were clipped short to increase their speed in the water except for a few vital area’s including their chest and joints where hair was left to keep them warm.
Not only do they look PAWSOME but they are one of the most amazing breeds to own because of their loyalty and intelligence 🤩

A sensitive topic guys but I feel it is one I need to address for the wellbeing of the dogs
We are seeing a lot of overweight dogs these days and it’s concerning as they are struggling to stand and some are panting constantly
Not only is it a little awkward to groom them but their excess weight is a major health concern
They can develop a number of issues which might shorten their life 😢
* Arthritis
* Back pain
* Bladder stones
* Cardiac disease
* Decreased liver function
* Decreased stamina
* Diabetes
* Exercise intolerance
* Flatulence
* Heat intolerance
* High blood pressure
* Increased risk of complications during surgery
* Injuries to bones, joints, and ligaments
* Intra-abdominal cancers
* Lowered immune function
* Respiratory disorders
* Urinary tract infections
Please reduce the food and or increase the exercise if you feel your dog is overweight. Consult a reputable Veterinarian for further advice if needs be ❤️

What a great time with had at Crufts!

Ms Capri was a little angel throughout 🥰. She was awarded 2nd place in her class among some lovely Westie’s. Im so delighted as I really was just coming for the ‘experience’ as I feel I have a lot to learn still - wasn’t expecting to place! ☺️

Little Ms Maisie the Wire Haired Dachshund had her first visit for hand stripping with us yesterday.
She was so well behaved and we are pretty happy with the after result we achieved 🥰
Pronounced Daks - Hund, this little bundle of joy dog breed originates from Germany and the name literally translates to badger dog. Did you know there are different types of Dachshund? Long Haired, Smooth and Wirehaired. They range in size between Miniature and Standard and come in a variety of colours… Tune into Crufts which will be televised soon to learn more about the different dog breeds.

Absolutely thrilled with my achievements from yesterday What a fantastically run and thoroughly enjoyable competition it was. Thank you Ashley Houston and Tanya Salas for all your hard work 🙌
I placed 🥇 in my class with Mabel the Kerry Blue and I placed 🥈 with Tommy the West Highland White Terrier. I also won an award for ‘best technique’ with regard to my hand stripping which I’m flippin delighted with!!! 🙌🙌🙌. Thank you so much to their owners for trusting me with their dogs 🥰🥰🥰
I received some lovely feedback from the judges Colin Taylor, Emma Rose Darlington & Irina Pinkusevich which I’ll take on board for future competitions 😍
Congratulations to all who entered and the others who placed in their classes. Some really beautiful grooms 🤩 it’s not easy putting yourself out there but it really is worth it. The study and hard work to prepare pays off. A great sense of accomplishment is felt for being so brave and pushing yourself to better than you were yesterday 💪

Saddened to receive a 1 star review from a customer yesterday who was only encouraged to bring her dog to us ideally 6 weekly but no more than 8 weekly for the health and well being of her dog and not to provide bad customer service among other things as she described…
The dog in question was brought into us on more than one occasion with severe matting. When we are faced with this kind of matting we have no choice but to clip the hair down very short as trying to brush out matting causes tremendous pain. We are obliged by the law to not put any dog through unnecessary pain and suffering according to the Animal Health and Welfare Act 2013
I am grooming 18 years and have dealt with every coat type and the majority of the different breeds out there. From experience, if certain coat types are not professionally groomed every 6 weeks or less, there will always be some degree of matting present. It takes a lot of time and skill to remove matting and really takes an emotional toll on us as we can see how sore the skin can be underneath
…. Also more often than not the price we charge does not really cover the extra time involved with dealing with matted coats. We are often condemned, abused and shouted at for ‘scalping’ the dog, when really all we did was free the dog from being very uncomfortable and sore
We encourage no more than 6 weekly appointments if you wish your dog to have ‘a fluffy look’ because we know this is what it takes to achieve the look you want
If you cannot commit to the return time we advise then please do not ask us to cause pain to your dog by brushing out their matting. Please do not complain about price when you have given us a very hard task. €80 for a 3 hour job where 23% is taken by the VAT man… is that too expensive when you have to divide that out to wages, electricity, equipment, rent, rates etc?
We love our work but please respect the hardship (occasional) and skill involved in achieving the level of grooming that we produce
It really is worth it when we receive some honest and heartfelt reviews such as that from Mary Burnell about the service she receives for her beautiful Westie Coco 🥰💕

NEW POLICY - Nurturing the health and well-being of your dog and optimising our productivity

We are very fortunate and thankful to be receiving numerous requests for appointments. To ensure we can be as productive as possible we have now implemented a new policy. We are requesting that all existing clients owning dogs with certain coat types attend on a more structured basis.

A lot of our clients are already super dedicated to attending very regularly and we are so grateful for your custom. We are even more delighted that you are taking seriously how regular grooming plays a big part in the well-being of your dog.

From January 2024 we will only be catering for those who attend as regularly as we recommend depending on their dog’s needs. Clients we have not seen in 12 weeks (3 months) will automatically be removed from our client list to allow for the possibility of new clients who are willing to commit to a more regular schedule.

To ensure optimal productivity and to nurture the well-being of your dog, we are requesting that clients with a dog that has a silky or wool or mix of either coat type to attend 4-6 weekly ideally but no more than 8 weekly sessions.

Silky Coat Examples: Cockers, Cavaliers, Yorkshire, Setters, Maltese, Shihtzu… any mix of silky coats

Wool Coat Examples: Poodle, Bichon, Cavapoo’s, Cockapoo’s, Labradoodles, Goldendoodles, Maltipoos.. any mix of Poodle or Bichon coat

For clients with a dog that has a Wire or Double coat or mix of either coat type to attend 4-8 weekly ideally but no more than 10-12 weekly sessions. 10 to 12 weekly sessions are only suitable for hand stripped wire coats however we do believe your dog enjoys it more with 8 weekly sessions.

Wire Coat examples: Irish Terrier, Border Terrier, Wire Haired Dachshund, West Highland White, Schnauzer

Double Coat examples: Golden Retrievers, Pomeranians, Spitz, Husky, Collies, Chow Chow, Corgi’s

Please keep in mind the longer you leave it the harder the job becomes for us and your dog due to overgrowth of coat, knots, matting, long nails, soiled, stinky coats etc

We are organising a Dog Show this day two weeks at Woolmington family farm in Rathdrum. It’s part of a fantastic family day out hosted by the Woolmington family in aid of Conary Church and Conary First Responders. Please come along and bring your doggies and maybe win a prize!!
