Working with Native Irish Black Bees, the Dublin Honey Project aims to produce raw honey from each of the postcodes of Dublin to showcase the amazing range of honey flavours available from our city and suburbs. The Founders of The Dublin Honey Project are Dublin natives Kieran Harnett and Gearóid Carvill. Kieran, a photographer, and architect Gearóid first met through their involvement in South St

udios, a creative space in Dublin’s Blackpitts. This collaborative environment motivated them to work together as beekeepers, and to form the Dublin Honey Project as a means of educating the public about the extraordinary health boosting benefits of raw local honey. Raw honey contains over 60 known beneficial natural ingredients such as amino acids, proteins, enzymes and complex carbohydrates. As well as apiculture Kieran has a passionate interest in ecology and local food production growing and foraging. He also sits on the committee of the County Dublin Beekeepers Association. Gearóid, a Director of abgc architects, has a passion for our city, bees and honey. He was inspired to take up bee keeping by his grandfather who kept hives at the end of his Sandyford garden. Together they understand the role of food producers as educators and are committed to raising awareness of the plight of the humble honey bee - the world’s most important pollinator. Through their work with their millions of bees Kieran and Gearoid believe they are directly supporting the environment and biodiversity by helping these tiny, yet industrious, creatures. They want to encourage others to understand the value of beekeeping as an ancient indigenous craft. Tail to snout beekeepers, Kieran and Gearóid harvest a range of products from their hives including bee’s wax, propolis and pollen in addition to their honeys. About Dublin Honey
