Hi everyone πŸ‘‹ We thought it'd be nice as you're getting ready for back to school to take a moment to think about our animal friends.

It's not just the us who feel the change. Many pets will notice as the house empties out, or when there is more traffic on the roads.

While your pet might be getting used to these changes, it could be an opportunity to help them feel their best by checking off some important maintenance tasks...

🐢 Neuter: There are many benefits to neutering and it is recommended rabbits are done from 4 months old and 6 months for cats and dogs.

🦷 Dental Checkup: If you haven't done so recently, a dental might be a good idea, to help keep your pet’s mouth healthy.

πŸ’‰Vaccinations: Annual vaccinations are always recommended for pet's health.

πŸͺ± Worm & Flea Treatments: Regular preventive care is crucial for keeping parasites away.

Remember many things are INCLUDED in Health Plans - see here for more https://www.palmerstownvets.ie/health-plans

We’re here to ensure your pets have a smooth and healthy transition into the new season. Don't hesitate to get in touch on 01 623 70 44 with any pet concerns.

We look forward to seeing you and your pet in the new season.

Oh and best of luck to those starting off, or going back to school 😊.

Django home safe and sound ↓

What would you do if your pet goes missing?

(First off, save this post as you never know when your pet may go missing ❀️)

You may have seen Django on our stories last week. He decided to go on a little adventure right after his family returned from holiday and for five long days, Django was missing, leaving his family worried sick πŸ₯Ί.

Thankfully, Django's story has a happy ending, but it got us thinking about how to prepare if your pet goes missing.

Tips to PREVENT Your Pet from Going Missing

πŸ†” Identification: Microchips are invaluable for permanent identification if a pet is found

🏠 Secure Your Home and Garden: Check for escape routes in your home. Make sure fences are secure with no gaps

🩢 Routines: If you let your cat out, check on them and keep track of their routines, routes and favourite spots.

🐩🐈 Train Pets: Basic dog training can include commands to stay close or return on call. When training cats, give them treats to encourage them to come when called.

WHAT TO DO if Your Pet Goes Missing

We hope you never have to face the anxiety of your pet going missing, but in case they do, here are some tips...

πŸ”Ž Search: Search (with food for the smell, while calling them) including hiding spots or places they could have been locked into, like wardrobes, sheds and cars

πŸ“’ Social Media: Social media is great at helping to find lost pets. Ask people to share posts as well as sending us a photo. Keep photos of your pet handy in case you need to share

πŸ“ž Contact Local Shelters: Notify local animal shelters and pounds

πŸ“ƒ Posters or Flyers: Make a poster or flyer with a photo of your pet and your contact information

πŸ’ͺStay Positive and Persistent: Keep your spirits up. Many pets return home after several days, just like Django.

Please remember to send your photos as our community are happy to support those with lost pets.

Stay Safe, from The PVH Team ❀️

PS - If you think your pet may have been taken, please contact an Garda SΓochΓ‘na.
