Happy Valentine’s Day to my little loves! ❤️❤️
Hello Willow!
Willow gets very excited going on her walks & has a tendency to pull!
So we did some work on walking nicely on a lead, learning to not pull & how staying close is more fun!
Lead Walking!!!
One of the biggest issues I come across as a dog trainer is pulling on the lead!
Well here are some of my top tips….get ready!
🐶First thing get a good lead! Not a tiny short one & not a super long one….6ft is perfect! It’s the Goldilocks of leads for me!
🐶When your dog pulls - get ready for this - STOP!
🐶Most of us keep walking, looking like superman arm outstretched, cursing our dog because we feel our arm is coming out of our socket!
🐶Don’t call them..don’t pull back on the lead - just stand there & WAIT!
🐶When your dog comes back towards you, so turns back in to you then & only then move forward
🐶The longer your dog has pulled the more of a habit this becomes, the longer the habit the harder to break so this takes time & patience!
🐶One of my biggest tip- Most dogs are more chilled on the walk back home so for 2 weeks suck up the pulling to the park etc BUT on the way home practice the above!
🐶Now the biggie!!! When your dog is walking beside you or at a level YOU like - reward that behaviour with something yummy!!
🐶The more dogs get rewarded for the stuff we like them doing the more they do that behaviour!
Now I have LOTS more tips for loose lead but I can’t give them all away so if you would more info contact me for some 121 training for you & your dog!
Good Luck!!
Beach Day for my lads! ❤️❤️ freezing but beautiful!
Carrots!!!
As kids were told to eat our carrots, they’re good for our eyesight!
But did you know carrots are great for dogs! Teething pups especially!
Raw carrots allow your pup to really get their teeth into something a little hard & allows them the relief from need from chewing!
Pop them in the fridge so they are nice & cold!
Dog owner tip: if you pup is reminding you of a child & refusing eat their veg! Make a very very very watery gravy! (It has to be watery too strong your pup would have the runs 🙈) soak the carrots in it, the flavour of the gravy will encourage your pup to get stuck in!
Puppy Pads!!!
One of the first things people buy when they get a puppy…but are they worth it?
Simple answer: NO!
Puppy pads can be useful if you can’t be there to let your pup out to toilet BUT for most people they find that the pup will chew/tear/eat the pads.
If you are in the house, take the pad up! When the pads are down it can make us be a little lazy “oh it’s ok if pup has an accident they’ll use the pad” - reality they probably won’t! Once they use it once most pups are done with it!
If the pad isn’t available we are more inclined to “be on it” we don’t have the safety of the pad to save our floors!
Pups will need to go after waking up, eating & any level of excitement!
Really you need to be bringing them outside every 30/40 mins at the beginning.
This will lengthen once you get used to their schedule & their little bladder fully forms.
Using a pad indoors is still teaching your pup that they can go indoors…
My advice get rid of the pads!
Only use when you can’t be there to allow them access to outside!
That’s a wrap for 2023!
Some changes made, 2023 has been a rough year business wise, no point in lying about saying it’s been amazing!
It hasn’t!!
It’s probably been the toughest year since I started, it’s terrifying & anxiety inducing all at the same time!
The change in the economy has a knock on effect to small businesses & especially ones that sometimes don’t feel like a necessity to people.
In saying that we’ve made it through!
Hoping 2024 is brighter & better.
Thinking of the beloved dogs that crossed Rainbow Bridge this year, especially thinking of my own beautiful Maggie who inspired me to be a dog trainer.
No idea what 2024 holds!
I would like to Thank all my wonderful clients for yet again trusting me with your dogs & allowing me into your homes & family.
It’s a privilege to be allowed to do this job & I am forever grateful.

My little pal Max has gone to rainbow bridge 💔
Max was funny, energetic & a little bit crazy!
He was always up for a walk UNLESS it was raining he was not a fan of that & would turn around after a certain point to say “Right woman, home!”
He was small but had a huge personality!
He will be so missed by all that knew & loved him especially his loving family who he has watched grow over his years…
Run Free my little pal, you have lots of your fiends up there waiting to greet you❤️
Meet the very adorable Leo!!

Met brand spanking new Amber…
Amber has just started her training journey! She had her first session with her family covering toilet training, biting, social skills at home! Next session we start on the outside….
Meet GiGi!
GiGi & her family were learning about all living together!
GiGI got really lucky as her new sisters are very excited & have already thought her some tricks ! ❤️
Puppy Tip!
This one applies for all dogs to be fair!
When I was a kid my parents nickname for me was Rocky, so if they called Rocky, I would toddle over, no problem!
However, if they called Roxann!! Well, that was a different story I knew I was in trouble for something & wasn’t so quick to come over…
We do this with dogs ALL the time!
We call them when they are doing something we don’t want them to do, so they learn that sometimes coming to your name isn’t fun!
Our dogs could be doing normal dog stuff for them but it’s not just what we want them to do, so when we call them away & they lose the fun they were having, we teach them that answering their name isn’t good!
Change that! Play games with them, play hide & seek, hide, call them, when they come over have a play or give them a treat!
Play Doggie in the middle, stand round in a circle, spread out, take turns calling your dog to each of you when they come, play or treat!
Have fun with it, while teaching your dog something very important!!
Met the fabulous Gary the other day….
She landed on her 3 legs with her new family after a rough start in life, she needed some help getting comfortable around people & her family are doing a great job of helping her feel safe now… ❤️
Sign of a good training session???
Tail is wagging so much it becomes a blur!
Lily enjoyed her 2nd training session, she did some recall, loose lead, "fridge" yep I said fridge. I'll explain that another day but it's so useful!
She also learnt a Thank You aka drop!
I like to use "Thank You".
For me, I always find that people can say "drop", hard, maybe with a little anger to it, even if they don't mean to.
However, I find people will naturally say "Thank You" a little softer.
You don't need to scare the bejaysus out of your dog people X
Saturday morning ramblings….💭❤️
Little rambling thoughts of a Saturday morning 💭💭💭
Rainy nights call for cosy evenings…❤️
The sweetest brown eyes….. they reach into my heart & just melts it ❤️
Look it’s no secret, things are a bit rough out there, money is tight! Coldplay tickets are extortionate!
However, dogs still need to trained, issues still arise!
Yes you can Google/YouTube how to stop your dog etc however, this rarely go the way you want!
Some issues are always going to need an in person training session, but there are things that you can do yourself once you have the proper guidance & support!

Some info regarding home boarding: This is a premium service. There will only be 2 dogs max at any one time. This is in my own home with my dogs & family so your dog must be comfortable around dogs & people. I would love to take all the dogs, all the sizes but this is a family home & I would be able to accommodate all the dogs. I want the dogs to be relaxed & enjoy their time here & my experience is that is best with smaller numbers & dogs around equal size. All dogs must be neutered, toilet trained, vaccinations including kennel cough up to date. Dates are starting to fill already so if interested please contact me here. #dog #dogsboarding #homeboarding #homeboardingfordogs #dublin #ireland

Allowing them & you to enjoy your break knowing your dog in the absolute best of care.
