This little girl is Gipsy and she's 14yo! She moves great now but has an ongoing problem with the discs in her neck (cervical spine).
Not all the dogs are suitable for but those that have been shaved for a surgery, diagnostics or short coats like staffy or dachshunds are really good candidates 🤩

Absolute Prince Charming this boy Cooper is 😍
Cooper has been lame since June, with suspected but the exact cause has not been identified. Cooper will need imaging done to get to the bottom of this sore leggy .... My personal guess is , possibly bilateral (in both elbows)

Buddy... Another Frenchie with IVDD
Seems like majority of my recent clients all have IVDD.
We also try TENS machine as part of rehab for some of these cases, where suitable

Sandy is super hyper 6yo lab and she was diagnosed with in her left stifle (knee joint). She is lame on that leg with little weight bearing. Another case yo show that arthritis is not disease of old but young dogs and we see it in dogs as young as 2yo.
What can be done? Targeted exercise, weight management, therapy, environmental changes such as change of walks surface, duration, avoiding high impact exercise, adding pain management, rugs to avoid slippery floors, , , massage and lots of others

This bear 🐻 girl is Bowie, 11yo collie x who I used to treat few years ago, and we are back now. Bowie has severe arthritis in her carpal (wrist) joints affecting both front limbs. She is permanently lame now.

Bowie also goes swimmies weekly at multimodal approach for is the best way to manage this disease. Bowie has good few kilos to loose which is the best thing for any dog with orthopedic problem.

What we did yesterday? Full static and dynamic assessment, checked range of motion of all joints, massage, joint mobilisation of those areas that needed it (carpal, elbow, shoulder and scapula), stretch and we made a plan for the owners to incorporate some environmental changes such as walks duration, surface, discussed possibility of bracing, etc.

Sadie, the Rottie puppy getting 2 in 1 ... While TENS machine is doing it's wonder, I am treating different part of her pelvis with the Apollo laser, to make the treatment the most efficient 😁

I see this little pumpkin weekly to work on her hind legs, and work on proprioception, muscle mass and neuro work. So far she's not using or moving her hind legs at all... We keep going, she's full of life 💕

Big smiley head on this boy Enzo!
Enzo is 2yo staffy boy with what seems to be neurological disease polyneuropathy. There is no test and diagnosis is done by exclusion. Enzo had his MRI scan done which revealed few issues with discs but none severe enough to impact his hind legs as much as they present.
What does all that mean for Enzo? His hind legs are lacking proprioception, meaning that the neuro signals are delayed and his walk is "wobbly". He does have issue with the airways and he's breathing heavily when he gets excited or does too much exercise.
His parents are keeping close eye on him, managing his routine and now adding prescription and targeted exercises to the daily routine and some environmental changes.

Remember this beauty Kobe? His hind legs are still weak, he's "wobbly" but he's standing when eating!

Recovery after IVDD - takes time and sometimes the functionality never fully returns.

Daily exercises, manual rehabilitation, proprioceptive / neurological pathways stimulation and changes in the environment such as adding rugs all help.

Sadie 😍 a true heartbreaker with those puppy eyes!
Sadie is only 4 months old. This sweet Rottweiler puppy got stuck between the metal bars of her crate and sustained muscle injuries. There is some spinal / neurological damage as for now, she can't use her hind legs at all.
We really hope that she bounces back and will run on all 4 in no time but at the moment, nobody can tell. Long road with daily rehab, exercises and lots of homework for the owners.

Crucial ligament partial or full rupture is super common injury I get to see very often. Passive range of motion, targeted exercises for hind limbs and correction are super important

Arnie is 9 years young staffy boy with IVDD - intervertebral disc disease, commonly known as "slipped disc". He's got a chronic type, meaning rest and rehabilitation was recommended instead of a surgery. He has recovered well, with some hind limb weakness.

Kenji is 7 months old and latest addition to CDC clientele with grade 3 luxating patella, sadly.

Prescription exercises are crucial for these cases, while being managed conservatively. He might need a surgery later on though.

This little boy is Toby. He was hit by a car, twice! As a result, nerves that control the movement of his right front leg are damaged. This injury is called #brachialplexus . It will be a long road to recovery. This injury is mostly caused by trauma and often, if nerves are too damaged, the function of the leg is not restored.

One of my clients asked me for video of massage technique called effleurage, so here it is :) What is it good for? Effleurage helps by increasing blood circulation, stimulating lymphatic drainage and stimulation feel good hormones. Effleurage helps by increasing blood circulation around the body. The friction of touch against the skin increases the flow of blood and increases of temperature to the body. Explaining weight shifting exercise to Pepe's mum (sound on for my wonderful commentary lol) Why weight shifting? Looks very simple yet very effective, improves core strength,balance and coordination as well as this exercise requires engagement of both front and hind limbs muscle groups. For Pepe we are trying to strengthen hind limbs as well as core.
