Today would have been Jackson's birthday 😞 missed every single day, goofiest sweetest bestest wildest boy! He is the reason I ever did anything to rehab dogs.

Jackson had cognitive dysfunction - canine dementia. It's the worst condition we ever dealt with.

There's lots of supports, medication, supplements etc to manage this condition, and is highly under-diagnosed. Please reach out if you would like to talk about your dog. We battled it for several years.

I also still have several boxes of Selegiline- this is the only FDA approved medication, is prescription only and hard to get in Ireland. Please talk to your vet and do your own research, there's fantastic group on FB (happy to pm link) with 20,000 people all over the world going through the same with their dogs. Happy to give meds away to someone they can help, you need to talk to your vet though.

Let's talk mobility aids!
We made it to St Anne's markets on Saturday just gone and it was a great outing. Buds mobility is still poor and since the steroid injections into his elbows, he is using his left front leg very poorly and putting very little weight on it which results in severe lameness. He can only do few steps at the moment.
We wouldn't be able to get out without the buggy. No he's no lazy, he just can't walk more than few meters, for now.
Nothing wrong with support harnesses, booties, buggies. Most people and kids stopping by loved this sweet fluffy boy in his buggy.

This cutie pie is Bruce 😍 yeah very shiny boy!
Bruce has a restriction in movement of his hips, especially the left one. We did our first initial session and awaiting results of the x-rays, suspecting hip dysplasia.
Will keep you posted on his he is doing, you can tell he really enjoyed our session though as he snoozed through half of it!

2 lights? What??

This is Pipoca, 11yo bichon, who has Crushing's. This disease impacts skin greatly and you can see lots of hair loss and lesions. Her hind legs are super weak suspecting hip problem resulting into arthritis or similar. While she gets stronger and her body and skin gets better to undertake further investigation into the hind legs weakness, we treated both last night- using blue light to reduce bacteria and improve healing as well as laser with red and infrared light to provide pain and inflammation management.

2 in 1 or maximising benefits of treatment session.

Watch this space to see this girl with what I believe will be fantastic coat and lovely movement ☺️

All the credit to Sammy's mum for this picture of Sammy who is nearly 5yo and his front left limb was amputated before he found his new forever home.

Sammy gets tired quickly as he uses lot of energy to hop around using only 3 legs. As his right front limb bares so much of his weight, it is highly overloaded therefore Sammy has several muscle spasms around his right shoulder- scapula bone and along his spine.

Also- a rare picture of me 😜 in my +10kg hoodie and bad haircut 😂 on this International Dog Day!

This little girl is Gipsy and she's 14yo! She moves great now but has an ongoing problem with the discs in her neck (cervical spine).
Not all the dogs are suitable for but those that have been shaved for a surgery, diagnostics or short coats like staffy or dachshunds are really good candidates 🤩

Absolute Prince Charming this boy Cooper is 😍
Cooper has been lame since June, with suspected but the exact cause has not been identified. Cooper will need imaging done to get to the bottom of this sore leggy .... My personal guess is , possibly bilateral (in both elbows)

We also try TENS machine as part of rehab for some of these cases, where suitable

This little boy is Toby. He was hit by a car, twice! As a result, nerves that control the movement of his right front leg are damaged. This injury is called #brachialplexus . It will be a long road to recovery. This injury is mostly caused by trauma and often, if nerves are too damaged, the function of the leg is not restored.
