Trimming a cat's nails
🐈🐈⬛🐈 Have you ever wondered how we trim your cats claws? Our vet nurse Ciara trimmed the lovely Loki's claws today despite his little vocal protests (his lovely pet parent took him off the couch basking in the sunlight to the vets so he was not a happy camper!!).
🐱Ciara has completed many CPD courses on Feline safe handling and behaviour and so she knows that cat's love to just hide away. Aswell as being great predators, cat's are also preyed upon by bigger animals so they feel alot more comfortable when they can hide away from us. Ciara's magic tool of choice when trimming a cat's nails is simple, yet effective.
A big giant blanket or towel works wonders! Blankets and towels can also be sprayed with a pheromone spray called Feliway that smells very calming to cats which can help them feel better.
🐱 We like to make these visits as stress and fear free as possible for our feline friends.
🐱Not all cats need there nails clipped but some cats that spend alot of time indoors may require their nails to be trimmed every so often as they are not out climbing and defending themselves as much as an outdoor cat would be. 🐈⬛🐈🐈⬛

Scratching is a natural behaviour for cats. It is part of a cat’s instinct and most people are not aware of this but scratching is also a way to communicate with other cats. This behaviour not only leaves a visible mark in the scratched surface but it also leaves a scent for other cats to smell. Cat’s paws have scent glands and through scratching cats mark their territory. The best way to prevent your pet from scratching your furniture at home is to provide an acceptable, inviting area for your cat to scratch.
Does your cat have a scratch post?

If they are - please give our vets a call for advice.
