What a way to spend a Sunday! 😁

Thanks for the invite ladies, I got to cuddle some of the Grá litter pups from and they got to model the Dadstie bow ties in aid of Throat Cancer Ireland and meet their doggy ambassador .cockapoo

These pups are super important and are Ireland's very first physiatric service dogs! How exciting! They're going to have such important jobs when they grow up and be such a beneficial part of their hoomans lives!

Happy Friday! 🙌🏼🐾

Just thought I'd share this, as it's that time of year again when teenagers offer dog walking at a reduced rate, much cheaper than professionals.

Here is what you should look for before you hire someone to walk your dog.

As a professional dog walker they should have the following:

🐾 Insured with Public Liability and Accident Insurance
🐾 Qualified in Canine First Aid
🐾 Bonus if they are an accredited dog trainer with the IMDT or other dog training associations
🐾 They should have or should be studying canine behaviour and training
🐾 They should understand dog's body language.
🐾 They can confidently read dogs' body language and know when/if it's safe for a stranger's dog to greet their dogs or more importantly not greet them!
🐾 If needs be they should know the correct and safest way to separate a dog fight.
🐾 They are comfortable managing small groups of dogs and should an off lead dog approach, they are confident in handling the situation safely.
🐾 They only mix well suited, well socialised dogs who have similar play styles etc. - all dogs I walk must complete a trial period to see if they are suitable or not for group walks
🐾 They have experience around groups of dogs
🐾 They have knowledge and know how to handle a dog who resource gaurds toys/food etc.
🐾 They won't walk dogs if temperatures get too high - regardless of lost income or not, my clients safety is my number one priority.
🐾 They understand our dog laws and all of my dogs, if let off lead are ALWAYS under effectual control by means of reliable recall.
🐾 They put weeks and months into training their walking dog's before ever letting them off lead in a safe, secure place.

The above are not required by law but personally I wouldn't leave my dog in the care of anyone who didn't have the bare minimum of Insurance and Canine First Aid.

What a fantastic weekend of learning all things Assistance Dogs 🐕‍🦺

I learned lots of new skills and met lots of new dog trainers, one of the huge benefits of in person courses is meeting and chatting to new people!

Thanks again for hosting and looking after me

I'm absolutely exhausted but so glad I made the trip over for it, see you all again in November!

Meet Teddy 🧸😍

He's a 6 month old Bernese x Golden Retriever who has been recently rescued by his awesome new humans.

Did you know that we specialise in working with Rescue Dogs? We have a special reduced rate package for recently rescued dogs!
We absolutely love being able to help them settle into their new forever homes and environments!

Teddy is your typical Bernese who is struggling with walks at the moment, he's nervous on lead outside of his house so we'll be working on building his confidence and getting him enjoying his walks in the near future!

Gennaro was back training this evening!

He's absolutely smashing his loose lead walking and his new harness and lead from arrived today so his owners should be able to manage him easier on walks now!

Meet Gennaro 😍

He's absolutely stunning and still only a big baby at 11months old!

He's booked in for our private training package to help his family with basic obedience like not jumping up (he's resting his elbows on my shoulders, so this isn't ideal 😅🫣), pulling on lead and mouthing.
He's very much a boisterous teenager at the moment, so perfect time for training!

Can anyone guess this beautiful boy's breed? Very unusual for here in Ireland, he was actually born in Italy and found as a stray if that helps! 🤩
