🐾 Puppy Teething Troubles? Chew on This! 🐾

Is your pup going through a teething phase? It’s completely normal, but can be a little tough on both you and your furry friend. 🐶

Did you know that chewing is actually a GREAT way for puppies to relieve the discomfort of teething? 🦷 Chewing helps soothe sore gums, reduces stress, and strengthens their teeth and jaw muscles!

Here are a few tips for teething puppies:

Offer safe chew toys – Rubber or soft nylon toys are perfect for soothing sore gums.

Freeze a chew toy – The cold will give extra relief to those tender teeth.

Redirect unwanted chewing – If your pup tries to chew on your shoes or furniture, gently redirect them to an appropriate chew toy.

Remember, teething is temporary, but positive habits can last a lifetime! 😍

Did you know that we offer a Pet Taxi service? 🚕🐶🐾

This is a PRE-BOOKED service, through EMAIL only. It must be booked at least one week beforehand, however for my regular walking clients, I can try to accommodate you where possible, especially if it's an emergency vet appointment!

Our van has 5 secure crates plus a large side part for giant breeds. All crates are secure and crash tested so you know your pet is safe with us. We are fully insured and have over 6 years experience of transporting dogs professionally.

This service can be used for groom appointments, routine vet visits, medication collection from your vets, pick up and drop off from boarding facilities when you're going away etc.

Prices will vary depending on location of collection and drop off, also on time of day etc just like a regular taxi would. Please email us if you'd like more information.

PUPPY SLEEPING GUIDE.

Your puppies first few nights in your home can be really quite scary.
They have just left their litter mates, their mum plus all those familiar surroundings and now everything is very very new and quite overwhelming,

You should defo Expect some potential sleepless nights for a start.

REMEMBER: Puppies need social contact to thrive and become confident little beings.

Leaving them in a dark room alone and frightened has the potential to cause some real emotional trauma that not only affects sleeping but that extra stress in that flourishing brain can be really quite damaging and last a lifetime.

We appreciate you may not want your puppy to have free roam of the house, especially upstairs and your home rules may dictate that they will never be allowed in your bedroom, fair enough……..
but we would highly advise that at least for the first few weeks you have them sleep near you.

This will have numerous benefits in the long run.
Your puppy is less likely to suffer from future separation anxiety due to feeling calm, confident and relaxed in your home.
You will be able to monitor toileting habits during the night and take them out to empty themselves.
This is important to remember as pups don’t always cry due to being alone, sometimes its because they want to toilet away from their sleeping area.
The most important part of having them sleep near you is that you will also get some sleep which also helps you during the day when, and it will, puppy raising Life starts to feel a bit stressful to say the least!!!!

Yes leaving them to cry it out downstairs does sometimes work but we strongly ask you to fully understand why this is…..
A puppy left alone will cry, shout, scream, bark, scratch at doors etc for along as their energy will allow and at some point give up “shut down.
Think how stressed they will have to get before this happens?
Would you be happy knowing they are in real distress?

Of course not, you love your puppy…. Most of the time!!!

You will be able to transition your pup to a new sleeping area once they feel confident in their new household so don’t worry if you would rather they slept somewhere else in the future, it will come!!

When humans have human babies they sleep in the parents bedroom for pretty much all the same reasons as above and those children end up in their own room in no time at all.

Alternatively go buy yourself a really comfy campbed and set up downstairs with pup!!!

Personally I like my own bed so pup can come upstairs so I can at least be comfy 🕺🏽

Please be patient and allow your puppy enough time to settle especially for those first few weeks, it will be worth it.

*Trigger warning - Pet Grief/Loss 🌈🐾

Here's something we don't talk about enough- after losing your first ever soul dog. That dog that you've bonded with in your teens and got you through your 20s. That unbreakable bond that when you lost them, the grief hit you harder than you ever prepared for. I found the first year and all the firsts extremely difficult, even though we got Ronnie about 6months later, I really didn't enjoy the puppy stage. Yes he was one of the cutest puppies I've ever snuggled but he just wasn't my soul dog. The comparisons and guilt you feel for every moment of happiness with your new dog hits hard, grief is strange like that!
For me it took far longer to bond with our next dog.
I can't be alone in this, so I'm posting this to open the discussion around pet loss. It's not meant to be a sad post but more to highlight that creating a new bond with a new puppy/dog takes time, sometimes a lot longer than you thought.
Yes we loved the bones of Ronnie but he's a much more sensitive & independent dog, for the first year he didn't enjoy cuddles or us fussing over him, he also takes longer to trust new people.
How long did it take you to feel that unbreakable bond with your next dog? I'll be honest, it's only in the last few months that I feel Ronnie has filled a bit of that empty hole in my heart, he'll never replace Baxter but I now know why Baxter sent him to me 🥰

He has made me become a better dog trainer! And my goodness has he challenged and taught me more than any course I could have done, for that I'm grateful 🐕🐾🫶🏼

Due to the Red Weather warning tomorrow, I'm starting my annual leave a day earlier than planned! All walks for tomorrow have now been cancelled! Please don't walk your dogs in the winds expected tomorrow, even the most confident dogs will get spooked and can bolt on you! Please ensure they have their nametags on with up to date information and do a check of your garden fences first before letting them out to toilet tomorrow! 🐕🐾

All Training plans and notes have been emailed and all enquiries answered!

Happy Hump Day! This week is absolutely flying by! 🐕🐾

⚠️🔴In light of the Red Weather warning for Friday and the schools now being closed, I have to follow the government advice and not walk dogs on Friday (if it remains a red weather warning!) As always with storm warnings, I'll make a call Friday morning and if it's changed to an Orange warning, I can offer drop in toilet breaks for clients who aren't at home, if it's safe to drive! 🔴⚠️

Everyone meet Poppy 👋🏼🥺🥰

After a lil training break there following the wedding 😅 we are officially back up and running for training clients!

Welcome our first pup of 2025, gorgeous (not so) little Poppy! She's a 14 week old rescue lurcher x spaniel and just look at those fluffy ears! 🤩

She absolutely loved the snuffle mat and she is so clever! At just 14 weeks old she can already Sit, Lie down and give the paw! 🐾

We covered all the basics like Puppy Biting, Teething, Recall, Crate Training and Enrichment!
