Sharing this again, this weekend is due to be a hot one so please take care of your fur babies in the heat. Missing one walk won’t kill them, but heatstroke can be fatal.

🌞 Hot Weather & Your Pet: Stay Safe This Summer! 🌞

🚫 NEVER Leave Pets in a Parked Car

Even with windows cracked, temps can soar in minutes.
Example: 22°C outside = 47°C inside the car in under 30 minutes!

🐶 Know the Signs of Heatstroke:

⚠️ Excessive panting
⚠️ Drooling
⚠️ Lethargy or collapse
⚠️ Vomiting or diarrhoea
⚠️ Red or pale gums
👉 Heatstroke is an emergency — call your vet immediately!

💦 Keep Them Cool:

✅ Always provide fresh, cool water
✅ Walk during early morning or late evening
✅ Provide shade if outside
✅ Use cooling mats, fans, or damp towels indoors

🐾 Hot Footpaths = Burnt Paws

Do the 5-second test:
👉 Place your hand on the ground — if it’s too hot for you, it’s too hot for them!

🐕‍🦺 Extra Caution for At-Risk Pets:

🔸 Flat-faced breeds (Pugs, Frenchies, Persians)
🔸 Elderly or overweight pets
🔸 Pets with heart or respiratory issues

☀️ Enjoy the Sunshine — Safely!

This very sweet boy was handed into us today after being found straying in crusheen. He is an unneutered male, seems like a young adult, and has no microchip. We would love if his owners could get in touch ASAP as he unfortunately isn’t very well. You can get in touch with us on 0656797444 or email [email protected]

Not only did we say goodbye to Áine yesterday, but we also said “see you later” to Kate! We’re sending all our love and best wishes to the wonderful Kate as she heads off on maternity leave!

Kate has been the friendly face at our front desk, the calm in the chaos, and the one who somehow always knows exactly where everything is (even when we don’t). We’re going to miss her warmth, laughter, and organisation wizardry - but we’re so excited for her as she starts this next chapter.

We can’t wait to meet the newest (and tiniest) member of the EVC extended family! Enjoy every moment, Kate - you’ve got this!

Today we say a very fond farewell to our beloved Áine as she heads off to take on the big city of London! Our chief cat cuddler, professional vet tormentor (sorry, Adam), and spontaneous concert performer — life at EVC was never dull with Áins around.

We’ll never quite know when it’s time to “be real” without you around, but we’re so excited for all that lies ahead on your new adventure. You’ll always be a part of the EVC family - and we’ll miss you more than words can say!
