Did you know

Grange Bouncer named after Jack Lamberts townland in Wexford was 20 years old when he was put to sleep due to melanoma’s on his tail which sadly spread throughout his body. This was a substantial loss to Irish draught breeders worldwide. He stood with his breeder Jack Lamberts in Killinick, Co Wexford.

The breeding of Grange Bouncer was not, in fact, an intentional act back in 1992 noted previously by Jack “I didn’t even want a stallion,” “I was hoping for a filly!” Jack wanted to keep the line going of his mare Grange Heather in her last season of breeding and she didn’t give what was wanted and produced a c**t instead namely Grange Bouncer. Jack always knew Grange Bouncer would make a stallion when he arrived. It took several attempts however, before Grange Bouncer was approved by the Irish Horse Board. It was in fact the 3rd time of asking in 1998 when he was finally approved as a 6 year old.

Grange Bouncer show jumped at grade A level, evented at three-star and was selected for the Irish team at the Junior European Championships with Monica Whelan. He produced no less than four Class 1 Irish Draught stallion sons, Killinick Bouncer (deceased), Clew Bay Bouncer (deceased), Columcille Diamond Boy and Moylough Bouncer.

He also hunted twice a week alongside covering several mares a season. He was special, a perfect gentleman as noted by many who hunted him. Grange Bouncer even took teenagers out for their first hunt which showed the kind of temperament the horse had. What’s more he bred this temperament in his stock. As was said by many - this stallion made money for many many breeders.

Grange Bouncer stock have graced the hunting fields in the USA, France, Germany, the UK and the Czech Republic and have competed as far away as New Zealand.

In his stud career of 19 years (1995 -2013), the remarkably athletic Irish Draught sired 641 registered foals with HSI and was renowned for producing athletic horses with a fantastic temperament.

Horse Sport Ireland awarded the stallion a gold merit for show jumping, as well as a gold star for eventing and a bronze merit for dressage. He show jumped up to the 1m 30 level and competed up to CIC3* level in eventing.

To breed a draught is easy, to breed a performance Irish Draught with these credentials and legacy is a dream.

We are truely heartbroken as she has always served us so well.

Solution: Go Hunting, tally ho and make sure breakfast is ready when we get back. Your horse will go without you.

Problem: My horse bucks.

Solution: Go Hunting. He will get left behind and will be so focused on keeping up, he will forget to buck.

Problem: My horse is spooky.

Solution: Go Hunting. He will be so focused on navigating the in-your-face obstacles, he won’t have time for drama.

Problem: I have trouble seeing distances.

Solution: Go Hunting. Every distance is pretty much a hail Mary whether its correct or not.

Problem: I need to get my confidence back.

Solution: Go Hunting, we will give you alcohol if needed.

Problem: My horse is green.

Solution: Go Hunting, the hunt is colorblind.

Problem: My horse rears.

Solution: Go Hunting. Hard to rear while galloping. Js.

Problem: My horse is afraid of dogs.

Solution: Go Hunting. No dogs here.

Problem: I can’t ride well enough.

Solution: Go Hunting. You will surprise yourself when in fear of your life.

Problem: My horse won’t load on the trailer.

Solution: It will only happen the first time. Once he knows how much fun he’ll have he will run on. Kind of like s*x. Only better.
