Whilst we have had to take a step back from rescuing for the past number of months following the arrival of our little lady, today we were called to help out an injured fox by Megan who was in dire need of a quick rescue and veterinary treatment. Thankfully, he was very easily secured and brought to Crowes Veterinary Clinic, who were able to see to his injuries and start him on a dose of antibiotics. We are very hopeful that this lovely chap will make a full recovery π¦

We are delighted to have finished the Nature/Wildlife Trail we designed and developed for in Riverstown.
This information trail gives people the chance to learn about our local wildlife and how to get involved in helping biodiversity at home.
It ranges from the importance of the river Unshin to wildlife observed in and around it, the importance of pollinators to natives bats, owls, and other creatures often overlooked.
This will be a great addition to both the region as well as Sligo Folk Park and hopefully will be able to be utilized by local schools to aid in their curriculum.
A massive thank you to Sligo LEADER Partnership Company Ltd for funding this project and to Ballast Signs for delivering such great signs.

We're in the final stages of getting a wildlife information trail set up in Sligo Folk Park This will be a huge boost for biodiversity awareness and an asset to schools all around the local area.
Work is finally on the way to get our Wildlife trail, designed by Wildlife West finalised. This trail is made up of 11 different stages and takes you through our native fauna from Fish on the Unshin river to Hedhogs, from Mayfly and their lifecycle to Owls and how you can do your part to help. This will be a huge step for promoting local biodiversity and a massive asset to schools around Sligo.

He is neutered, vaccinated, had his rabies shots, has his Passport and Microchip.
He was tested with other dogs, male, female, large and small and had no reaction.
He has not been tested with cats yet.
Loves people but slightly wary of men. Homes with kids over 12 preferably.
Hes good on the lead, but will need further training. He is very eager to learn and please.

This handsome little chap is looking for a new home. His name is Hewie and he is a male degu. He was born December 2019. Unfortunately, he does not socialize well with other degus and therefore needs a lot of human interaction.

Heβs a two years old boy and a big d***y lad with a big heart.
He has been living with another dog since he was a pup so he's great with other dogs. He's good in the house but strong on lead, so will need a strong, experienced owner.
He's will be neutered, vaccinated and Vet checked before rehoming.
If we hadn't just added another big boy to our own gang, he would already be spoken for.

This hungry little chap was found in Mulberry Park in Sligo town. He's very friendly so was probably somebodies pet. Please help us find the owner or if we can't we will need to find a new loving home for him.
Yesterday we were delighted to be able to release this gorgeous little duck back into the wild again. It was brought in all the way from Foxford after having been abandoned. After a couple of weeks of rearing at it was big enough to make it on its own π€ so we brought it to the Half moon bay in Hazelwood where it joined all the rest of her duck friends to have a happy life.
But as one rescue case goes out the door, 8 more ducklings come in. π«£
Let's hope these little cuties will have the same fortune soon. ππ€

Thanks to Romana, Amanda and all the crew for calling us for this Juvenile House Martin who had been grounded. Luckily with a little encouragement we managed to give him a little push to rejoin his family over the Sligo skyline once again. Best of luck, little fella!
This chap is between 18-24 months old and gets on well with other dogs - he has a very sweet and gentle nature and as you can see, a very sweet face too!

Our rescue dogs have changed our lives and providing them with a chance at a happy life has genuinely made ours better! If we hadn't literally just adopted a new rescue last week this lady would already be spoken for π

This little Long-earded Owl fledgling was brought in to us by the National Parks and Wildlife service after appearing in someone's back garden. Juveniles will readily leave the nest, generally old crows nests, and climb through the nesting tree. Occasionally falling down, they can climb back up with incredible skill using both their talons as well as their beak.
The best thing to do would be to return it there immediately where the parents will feed it until it is fully fledged.
Unfortunately, it was not possible to locate the nesting tree and it's quite unclear how it ended up where it did. We will need to take care of it for a couple of days/weeks until we can hopefully reunite it with its parent who will do a much better job of preparing it for its life in the wild than we can. Luckily, young Long-eared Owls can be quite vocal, calling for their parents, when they get a bit older, so hopefully it's siblings will soon give us a clue of their whereabouts so they can be reunited.

Update on our New Year's Day rescue.
An injured young male fox that looked for shelter in a garage after a severe leg injury.
Vet inspection and treatment at revealed a severe infection in his ankle joint. He's now on medication and under treatment. Hopefully he can make a speedy recovery.
Thanks to all involved and thank you Cathy for the shout out. Fingers crossed for the vet inspection tomorrow. ππ
