Honestly never thought it would come to this, but here we are. As most of you know I was diagnosed with cancer for the second time recently, and unfortunately it isn’t as good news as I had hoped. Please read my story and help in whichever way you can. If you are not in a position to donate, please share as that is equally as helpful!
Thank you so so much for all support that I have been shown in every capacity. I’m genuinely overwhelmed at the generosity and kindness of some people and the love they have shown to me. Here’s hoping I can 💀💀 this b***h!!!

⚠️ WE ARE CLOSED ⚠️

Unfortunately the time has come and I have no option but to (temporarily) close the door on Krafty K9.

Closing completely wasn’t at all what I had hoped for or intended, but unfortunately it’s a matter of urgency & with no prior warning I have been given only a few days notice to get my sh*t sorted… and that’s just the way the cookie crumbles sometimes. I’m going into hospital on Tuesday, and I have a very long and uncertain journey ahead.

I will be working straight through the weekend to ensure any orders already placed are fulfilled and shipped out by Monday. I will also be adding a closure notice to our website for our customers who are not on social media… or incase anyone forgets!

No doubt I will be active in some capacity on social media, but the collar/comedy content will probably be non existent for a while, so please bear with me!
I don’t have any indication of a time frame. It could be weeks, more than likely it will be months. But as soon as I am strong enough and can be back in the workshop, I will be.

Once again I would like to thank absolutely every single person who has supported me during this difficult time.
A message, a kind word, a funny meme/reel… they mean so much to me and somewhat make this journey a little less lonely, so from the bottom of my heart thank you.

Light a wee candle for me lads.

What better way to celebrate a bank holiday Monday than to admire this masterpiece 🥲😍

Very special collar for a very special girl, I absolutely loved creating this one. 🥰 Believe me when I say my phone is not even doing this justice!
I have no templates for these designs so I tackled it freehand with precision measurements! The paint and glitter are just for fun.

Due to extremely high demand, lots of pestering and it not being in my nature to disappoint-
Crystal work is now available by request via contact form and open to existing customers ONLY.
I only have a couple of slots for these, they are time consuming and I have a limited supply of crystals. They will not be going on the website or made available as a general order, so if you’re after one please shoot me a dm/fill out the form on our website asap to avoid disappointment. I may have to open up a wait list depending on numbers!

I’ve been trying to find the words to say, but I have failed repeatedly. So in being absolutely true to myself, even in times of adversity, here is a sarcastic reel instead.

To me Krafty K9 is way more than just a business. I have created a little community here on Instagram, I have formed relationships with people, made true connections, even some of which I’ve still never met in person. Truthfully, it’s probably been the best part about any of this journey. So with that being said, I believe honesty is the best policy here and the only way forward.

Right now, I do not know what the future holds.
For myself, for Krafty K9, for Ted, for life in general. The next few weeks are going to consist of PET scans, lymph node biopsies and every other test you can think of before a clear path forward will be decided on. So naturally, I will be quiet on social media. But I am still working on orders for now.

All I can do right now is keep going. My focus is strong and my will is stronger. Any of you that know me in person will know I do NOT back down from a fight!
I have faith. I have been chosen to walk this path for a reason. I will beat this again and i’ll be able to continue on this crazy journey that I started.

I will post updates regarding business decisions when the time comes. I may have to temporarily close, I may have to deactivate the website, I may just have to extend order time enough and hope that people will understand. When I know more, so will you.

I’d like to thank everyone for their kindness and continued support, and most importantly to my friends and family who have been a rock to me in these last few weeks especially. Cliche or not, I could not do it without you.
Though of course I appreciate every single message I receive, please know I may not be in a position to reply to everyone straight away. But I will do my best!

So for now, make the most of every single day.
Tell your people you love them. Hold your friends extra close, and most importantly, don’t ever let the bastards win.

WE ARE ONE!! 🥳🎉🎈

And what a quick and crazy year it has been!!
Thank you so much to each and every person who has supported us throughout this past year. It honestly means so so much to me and I am so grateful! There has been so many highs, lessons, new friends, lots of laughs and of course some tears along the way too. To say it’s been somewhat of a battle at times is an understatement. The world of business is not easy, and sometimes there are extra pressures and unnecessary burdens clawing away at you, that make everything that much harder, but what do we do? We keep f***ing going.
With that being said, there are some exciting times ahead with some massive announcements coming in the near future. Krafty K9 is hitting 2024 with new eyes on the horizon, and some big changes are coming very very soon! So keep your eye on the page for updates, you will not be disappointed 😜

I hate to be the one to tell you this, but wishing for things to be different will do absolutely nothing.

The key to anything is practice and consistency!

Here are my 3 top tips to improve loose lead walking:
(that aren’t the usual basic mumbo jumbo about less distractions etc.)

1. Be careful with markers!
I do not use markers (such as yes or good) when teaching loose lead. A marker means the behaviour is finished. Loose lead walking is a duration behaviour. Markers can create what’s known as the Yo-yo effect! A very very common mistake I see being made constantly, even by other trainers!

2. Improve engagement & relationship with your dog!
What does your dog love?? Do more of it. Everywhere.
Who are they and what is their personality traits? Don’t fight against it, this will only make you both miserable. Find ways to go with it. And of course-
Play, play, play! Train, train, train!

3. Be conscious of creating behaviour chains!!!
There are a lot of ways to teach loose lead walking, and if you’re not careful, you can inadvertently create a behaviour chain! An example of this is- the dog walks nicely, after a few steps hits the end of the lead and then returns for a reward. And repeat 🤣 not ideal!

Due to CONSTANT enquiries- I am possibly going to be returning to teaching and creating online training programmes in the very near future along side collar making. 😁

Lady & Maze are starting their journey today- travelling to compete in World Championships in Germany to represent Ireland! Making a quick stop in France for another event along the way!

It was my absolute privilege to make them their custom Team Ireland collars for the very special occasion.

From myself, and all the other members of our KK9 family, I would like to wish Lady, Maze and their mum Louise the most luck in the world. They are absolute superstars and are winners already. ❤️
Also a special mention to Madi who will also be competing in the juniors with Lady as her team mate.

From Cancer to Canicross
This isn’t really something I talk about often, but there’s so many reasons to be proud right now.

I live with a rare, incurable pre cancerous condition, that basically means my life is watching and waiting until something goes wrong. Unfortunately a few years ago I ended up with stage 2 cancer, which meant life changing surgery, ontop of the 12+ I had already had.
For the last 11 years I’ve spent most of my days in pain, sometimes even walking is a struggle.
But I wasn’t gonna let anymore time be taken, so I got my dream dog- a working line Border Collie- and you can sure bet I was going to give him the life he deserved.

Fast forward to May this year, I finally got to try Canicross- a sport I only ever thought possible in another life. I knew Ted was going to have a dream job, he LOVES to run.
It’s taken so much hard work, determination, and of course a mountain of support, encouragement and guidance from our teacher , but last weekend we ran our first race!!

We entered the 3k class at Pawsitive Fitness’s Doggy Dash. The trails were absolutely beautiful and it was such a well organised event.
There were so many great runners and dogs there, I was terrified 🤣

Needless to say, Ted took off like a bat out of hell. Our time was 11.18, a personal best for us and only 1 minute behind Louise Jones and her remarkable dog Maze - who compete at worlds!! Being Louise’s own event, she (very graciously) had decided not to be involved in the placement, which meant Ted and I slipped into 1st place and took home that ribbon. I am still in shock.

Regardless of placing, we had the best weekend imaginable. We are SO grateful to be part of such a supportive and inclusive community of amazing people, many of whom we now call our friends- and that is a win in itself.

I couldn’t be prouder of my boy Ted. His behaviour overall considering everything he had to deal with on the day was brilliant.
I owe everything to him, that first place is his.
He really is an incredible dog who deserves the world.

My main man can wear literally anything, but I’m loving the blues lately 😍

I have been less active on social media as of late. I’ve been sooo busy with everything and aside from that fact, tbh I just really needed to take break! For some people, like myself, you can easily start drifting into a negative headspace when spending so much time online.
I actually don’t believe it’s healthy, even when it is from a business perspective and is almost essential.

But rest assured, there is still lots going on behind the scenes in real life! I have been working away on new creations and ideas, as well as all my amazing customers orders, even if it’s not being shared on here!
