We're looking to hire a part-time Kennel Assistant for our dog sanctuary in Killimor, County Galway. Please SHARE this post and TAG anyone who may be interestedπ
The person we seek must be passionate about dogs and their care, be resilient and prepared to work in all weathers. A lot of the work is outdoors, which is obviously amazing on a warm summerβs day, but quite different in the winter and so any candidate must be prepared for this. Ideally, you will have previous experience of working with animals, preferably with dogs. An absolute bonus would be if the right candidate has any qualifications in this field, though not necessary. Training on all aspects of the job will be provided. Salary will be in line with industry standards.
THE PERSON:
- Resilient and able to work on their own and as part of a team
- Patient and caring
- Good eye for detail
- Passionate about animal care
- Good communicator
- Enthusiastic
- Needs to possess waterproofs and boots!
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Be able to be discrete and keep matters confidential
- Qualification in animal behaviour, etc a bonus but not necessary
- Knowledge of the charity sector would also be a bonus, but not necessary
- Own transport essential to be able to get to the sanctuary

Proprioception training..a mouthful word, proprioception is the bodyβs capability to move in space by recruiting nerves and muscles to help us balance while moving. Poor proprioception results in uncoordinated movement, clumsiness, staggering, falls in humans and animals. It is very beneficial to walk your dogs on all sorts of terrain, as this keeps their balance and core muscles strong, their joints healthy and this will prevent accidents and keep them mobile in their golden years. Mica is taking an extreme route here, if your dog has joint problems or doesnβt want to walk on rugged paths, do not force them, they know their limitations. #irishdog #kinvara #galway #healthydog
