When visiting the clinic:

➡️ Dogs should arrive on a lead.
➡️ Cats should arrive in a secure carrier

This helps keep your pets — and others — safe and calm while they wait for their appointment.

Thank you, we appreciate it! 💛

🐶 “Should I call the vet?”

It’s a question every pet owner faces at some point — and the answer isn’t always clear. If you’re ever in doubt, we’re here to help 💚

Here’s a quick guide to help you decide when to pick up the phone:

🔎 Call the vet if your pet is:
- Vomiting or diarrhoea for more than 24 hours
- Limping or struggling to move
- Refusing food or water for over 24hours
- Coughing, wheezing or having trouble breathing
- Suddenly very tired, anxious, or not themselves
- Swollen around the abdomen or showing signs of pain
- Scratching constantly, shaking their head, or biting at their skin
- Ingesting something they shouldn’t (chocolate, raisins, toys, etc.)

🐾 Not sure? Trust your instincts — you know your dog best.

It’s always okay to call and ask. We’d much rather chat and offer peace of mind than have you wait and worry.

📞 Call West Coast Vets on 091 867 455 – we’re here when you need us.

🎃👻 Halloween can be spooky fun for us — but not so much fun for our pets.

Here are a few things to watch out for to keep your pets safe and stress-free this Halloween:

🍫 Chocolate is toxic to dogs – keep sweets well out of reach!
💥 Loud noises (fireworks, parties) can trigger anxiety – consider a cosy den, and we can offer safe calming medication.
🚪 Watch the door – pets can easily slip out when trick-or-treaters visit.
🕯️ Candles + wagging tails = not a good mix – opt for LED lights if you can.
😨 Strangers in costumes can be scary – give your dog a quiet space to relax.

👀 Keep a close eye on curious pets, and don’t hesitate to give us a call if something doesn’t seem right.

Wishing you and your pets a happy, safe Halloween from all of us at West Coast Vets! 🐾🧡

🐾 Say hello to the newest faces at West Coast Vets – Sheree and Gilly!

We’re delighted to welcome these two lovely ladies to our team 💚

📅 You’ll see Gilly at the front desk on Mondays, Tuesdays & Wednesdays, and Sheree on Thursdays & Fridays – so there’ll always be a friendly face to greet you when you come in!

Sheree’s pictured with Ted, her clever and full-of-beans Border Collie 🐕🦺

And Missy, Gilly’s gorgeous Rhodesian Ridgeback 🐕, is every bit as gentle as she is striking (hard to believe her breed was once used to hunt lions!) 🧘‍♀️

Both Sheree and Gilly bring great warmth, care, and a real love for animals – we’re very lucky to have them join the West Coast Vets family.

Be sure to pop in and say hi next time you’re by! 🐶🐱

🦷 Say CHEESE!🦷

Better diagnostics just got bigger - literally! Our new dental x-ray sensor makes imaging larger breed dogs easier and more efficient.

Dental radiographs are an essential part of comprehensive oral health care. They help us detect issues hidden beneath the gumline, such as fractured teeth, root infections and bone loss - conditions that cannot always be seen during a routine exam.

Early detection = less pain, better health and happier pets 🐾

Call us on 091-867455 to schedule your pet’s dental check-up.
