Some amazing before and afters of a dental descale and polish performed by our nurses this week. 🦷😬

Often nurses are required to undertake dental descaling as part of day to day procedures. This includes inserting a catheter, administering pre-op medication, inducing the patient for intubation, hooking the patient up to oxygen and the general anaesthetic. Once this is all completed our nurses can begin the descale and polish. Any extractions are undertaken by our vets. 🩺

This is all in a days work for our nursing staff!! 🫶🏼

With the increasing warm weather, it is extremely important to notice ANY signs of heat stroke in your pets! We have already had two cases of severe heat stroke in the past 24hrs and the weather is expected to get hotter still. ☀️🔥

If you notice any of these symptoms contact us IMMEDIATELY on 091 752 014. Please don’t hesitate to contact us! If left untreated heat stroke is fatal, and the likelihood of survival decreases the longer they are exposed to the weather. 📞📞

🔥PLEASE look after your pets in the heat!🔥

May is Veterinary Nurse Awareness Month. We wanted to take a moment to thank our hardworking, dedicated nurses who go above and beyond to make sure all our patients receive the best care and attention! 🩺🥰

Stay tuned this month to see more about what our nurses get up to day-to-day! 🫶🏼💕

03/05/2024

We had a very unusual start to our day this morning when a very kind bus driver dropped 4 kittens into us. These guys were born this morning on a bus. Sadly, they had been abandoned by their mother. They were cold and unmoving. Luckily, once they arrived here to the clinic, the nursing team got to work straight away to heat these little guys up and get them some vital kitten milk.🫶🏼❤️‍🔥

Unfortunately, despite the team’s tireless efforts, we lost one kitten.😿

However, the remaining three are fighting fit this evening, and doing much better!! Make sure you turn the sound on to hear they’re adorable little squeaks!!🔈🔈

As these kittens are so young, they need constant care and feeding. Going into the long weekend, our nurses will be taking it in turns to care for these little guys. They’ll be dedicating long nights and cancelling bank holiday plans to care for them. If it wasn’t for the quick thinking and commitment of our nurses, we’d hate to think what could have happened to these cuties. 🥰🫶🏼💖

💖Zadie🥰

1 year old Zadie presented to us last week’s as she had lost a drastic amount of weight very quickly, despite a healthy appetite. Upon x-ray, we realised that surgery was necessary. Vet Emer undertook an exploratory laparotomy and discovered that Zadie had ingested a suspicious mass (as pictured). Luckily after fluids and pain relief, she got the all ok to rest up at home as she was bright and alert and back to herself. 🥳

This wasn’t Vet Emer and Zadie’s first meeting. Zadie had visited us only 5 months ago and Emer removed her left eye after a fight with another dog left her without viable vision in the eye. Luckily, this hasn’t dampened Zadie’s spirit at all. 💖🫶🏼

Quads against the odds!🤞🏼🐑

Have a look at these quad lambs born only yesterday morning, with the help of our Vet Colm! On average ewes birth 1-2 lambs. The chances of having quad lambs is 500-1, and the chances of them all surviving is even less. Have a look at this video to see just how strong and healthy these guys are. 🐑

Spring has sprung for our large animal vets!!🌸🐄

With calving and lambing season kicking into full swing, our large animal vets will be kept busy other the next few weeks. Have a look at the twin calves that Vet Emer aided in birthing on Wednesday. Not only did these guys come out healthy and strong like their mother, they also inherited her distinctive eyeliner! They literally woke up like this! 😂💄

🐈MAIN C**N REHOMING UPDATE🏡

For all those enquiring about the main c**n, Zucker we had previously posted, I am happy to inform you that the owners have found a suitable home for him. I have removed the post as per the owners request.

While it is good news that they have found a suitable home, I know the owners are devastated to say goodbye. He is well loved, and it is with a heavy heart they had to rehome him. 💔

They appreciate all the love everyone has shown Zucker and we all thank you for your help in rehoming him. 🫶🏼

How cute is Beans all cuddled up in her kennel? 🥰

Beans, a 3 month old Pomeranian-Husky mix, visited us last week after taking a small tumble at home, which left her limping on her leg. Our vet Emer sedated her and radiographed her leg and determined that there was no serious damage done and recommended some pain relief and cage rest. At just 3 months old, Beans was so brave and we made sure to give her lots of cuddles and love to make sure she felt at ease. 🫶🏼
