Why I Refused to Do What Their Vet Requested At Bubbles and Barks, I prioritize your pet’s comfort and wellbeing above all else, which is why I declined a recent request to pluck a dog’s ears. Having consulted my own vet and keeping up with modern veterinary advice, I know that ear plucking in dogs with healthy ear canals can do more harm than good. It can irritate the skin, cause inflammation, and potentially open the door to infections. Instead, I recommended trimming the ear hair to maintain airflow while minimizing discomfort. A few hairs may also be teased out gentky if they are ready to come. But i would never pull all the hair. The owner completely agreed, finding it to be the common-sense approach to care. Ticks and Flea season is upon us! My guilty pleasure is removing these bad boys, but they can carry some horrendous germs. So please check your dog's regularly. Treat them with some deterrents. I prefer natural ones, but the vets sell chemicals. Twist the little buggers, don't pull. And kill them in alcohol. Here are some natural tick and flea repellents for dogs: Have you tried any of them? 1. Apple Cider Vinegar: Added to a dog's water or applied topically in a diluted form. 2. Essential Oils: Such as lavender, eucalyptus, peppermint, and cedarwood, citronella, diluted and sprayed on the dog's coat. 3. Lemon Juice mixed with water and sprayed on the dog's coat. 4. Neem Oil applied directly to the dog's skin. 5. Coconut Oil: Applied to the dog's coat. 6. Diatomaceous Earth sprinkled on the dog's coat and around living areas. 7. Rosemary: Used in a rinse made from boiling the herb in water and then applying it after cooling. 8. A little bit of raw garlic in the food daily.
