Regular nail examination and nail clipping are an important part of routine preventative health care for our pets💅😻🐶🐇We pay particular attention to the dew claws as these make no contact with the ground when walking and therefore are more prone to overgrowth. As you can see in the photos this can result in the nail becoming embedded in the pad.

🎃 Halloween Safety Tips for Your Furry Friends 🐾
1. Secure Your Pet: Halloween can get chaotic with the doorbell ringing and trick-or-treaters. Keep your pet safe by placing them in a quiet room or crate away from the front door to prevent escapes.
2. Watch Their Treats: Chocolate and xylitol are not treats for pets! Keep Halloween candies out of their reach, and remind visitors not to share human treats.
3. Pet-Friendly Costumes: If your pet is wearing a costume, make sure it's comfy and doesn't restrict their movement. Some pets prefer not to dress up, so respect their comfort.

A look under the microscope 👀
These are Struvite Crystals, found in a dogs urine. This dog symptoms included, peeing more frequently but in small amounts and some blood in the urine.
Here are a few key points about struvite crystals in dogs:
1. Composition: Struvite crystals are composed of magnesium, ammonium, and phosphate. They can form in a dog's urinary tract.
2. Sign of Infection: Struvite crystals in a dog's urine often indicate the presence of a urinary tract infection (UTI), as these crystals tend to form in alkaline urine.
3. Treatment: Treatment typically involves addressing the underlying infection with antibiotics, a prescription diet to dissolve the crystals, and increased water intake to prevent recurrence.
4. Prevention: Maintaining proper hydration and a balanced diet (urinary care food), along with regular veterinary check-ups, can help prevent the formation of struvite crystals in dogs.

With this year's kitten season nowhere near ending and the avalanche of animal surrenders still in full swing......

No previous experience required but we are looking for people who can start immediately and are willing to commit to atlease 1 regular weekly slot......
If you are over 18 and available and prepared for some hard work and high emotions (mostly highs... somtime lows....) all to be rewarded with kitten cuddles and furry friends 💕

Our radiography suite at Rennick Vets compromises of state of the art Digital X-Ray. This enables us to not only diagnose illnesses and fractures quickly but also allows us to transfer x-rays swiftly if required.
Digital radiography (DR) is an advanced form of x-ray which produces a digital radiographic image instantly on a computer without waiting for processing.
Pet blood testing has two key roles, one as a diagnostic tool and the other as a way of preventing illness.
One of the most challenging aspects of pet care is knowing when your pet is unwell. Animals have a natural instinct to try and hide any sign of weakness, and this includes any underlying illness. As a result, they will try and avoid showing any symptoms for as long as possible. In many instances, owners do not discover that their pet is unwell until the illness that is bothering them has had a significant effect. However, you may be able to tell that something is just ‘off’ about your pet, and if you visit Rennick Vets we may recommend a blood test as a diagnostic tool. Early detection of diseases and infections is essential if they are to be treated promptly, and this significantly improves the likely outcome of your pet’s condition. By identifying problems early, you can also prevent your pet from going through unnecessary pain and suffering.

We provide a range of diagnostic imaging services including our Ultrasound scanner which provides us with images of internal structures such as muscles, tendons, nerves and internal organs. The images then allow our teams to diagnose and develop treatment plans for patients at Rennick Vets greatly contributing to a successful outcome for the patient.
An ultrasound scan is a medical test that uses high-frequency sound waves to capture live images from the inside of your body. It’s also known as sonography. This technique is used to visualise muscles, tendons, eyes, blood vessels and many internal abdominal or thoracic organs. Ultrasound is a safe and painless procedure.

Like many fledglings; he was pushed out of his nest by his parents in order to learn the ways of the world! Neighbouring birds gave him a bit of a hard time and he got stressed in the heat. After some fluids and a rest he is ready to go back near by his parents nest so they can continue to feed him and teach him to fly.
