Nineteen years ago, I spent a wonderful summer working in Kruger National Park, South Africa, studying TB in lions and buffalo under the stewardship of Dr Roy Bengis, Wildlife State Vet. I was resident in Kruger Park and was consequently involved in the daily life of the Kruger community. I found it a most amazing experience and ever since I have been planning a return visit. And now, finally, it is happening! I am going back to South Africa this month and will spend time in the vet camp in Kruger Park, shadowing the vets in their work. Dr Roy Bengis is now retired but I hope to pay him a quick visit in his new home of Port Alfred.
