All animals are well after last night's storm and rain. Thankfully we got away lucky and had no damage.
Early spring feelings ππ·βοΈπ¦
Lovebirds Misty and Leo π«Ά these two share a true bond.
It is important to us to create a safe, natural, species-appropriate but comfortable environment for our horses. Even though this is an ongoing process, we are one step closer with our new, custom-made feeder, which has proven to be extremely useful in these harsh winter weather conditions. Horses teach and inspire us every day. They show us what they need, and we get creative and make it happen. π·π οΈπͺ
Somebody pinch me please π₯Ή
Thank you 2024 - you've been good to us πβ¨ 9 months ago we opened our gates to retired horses and ponies. We worked harder than ever, got jobs done quicker than ever, faced more challenges than ever but most importantly, experienced so much joy and gratitude. Although we don't expect much from those horses that come to us - our focus is mainly to provide a peaceful and stress-free, natural environment with freedom, forage and friends - so many of them have made huge progress, physically and mentally. Special thank you to our lovely liveries, for all the trust, patience and support.
We see you all in the new year! π₯ππ
πππ Although they have the space to walk beside each other, overtake or turn around, a travelling herd seeking a new destination will always prefer to walk in a single line. Our tracks mimic this natural behaviour and encourage them to use their instincts. Usually, one horse, mostly a mare, will start the movement, and the rest follows.
Sweet boy Leo LOVES the scratch tree and uses it at least once daily since he's been with us. Scratch trees or posts with a selection of hard and soft brushes as well as scratch mats are a very popular destination on our track, which the horses seek out and travel to regularly. It not only satisfies the itch, it also stimulates and aids to renew skin cells, builds coordination, self awareness and balance. A simple but valuable enrichment to their overall health and wellbeing. (and it saves me a lot of groomingπ)
The art of a healthy winter coat π΄ βοΈ π§οΈ after a miserable rainy day, little pony Pedro is still completely dry! We encourage horses to grow their natural coat if they are able. Only to prevent weight loss or reduced forage intake, and to keep those with a weakened immune system comfortable, we carefully consider to rug certain individuals during wet and especially windy days and nights.
A new Bromance β¨π«Ά on the horizon. Jasper and Bouncer are becoming quite fond of each other lately.
Some cute fluffy πππ visiting Sandy Hills this morning π clearly the grass is greener on this side of the hill lol
