These are quite literally the yummiest treats ever to cross the threshold of our door. Shortly after hitting the stop button on the recorder they barrelled past me into the stash and knocked me clean off my feet. Thank God the lane outside was empty and nobody saw! 😂

Home Grooming Tip Number 5 - Fringe Trimming! ✂️ ✂️
Firstly I need to apologise for the poor video quality, I’m waiting for my contract to expire next month so I can get a new phone as this one is very very tired - I hear the Huawei is the best in terms of camera quality but any suggestions welcome!
Ok this is the biggest thing I get asked about - trimming the hair in front of the eyes without stabbing them with a scissors!
- So, best time to do this is when they are tired - after a walk, before bedtime etc. If they’re excited and fired up they’re more likely to jump around.
- Always hold onto a bit of chin hair wirh the hand you’re not holding the scissors with - just gently but enough to stop them from jerking when the scissors is above their eyes. It will also let you know when they are about to move so you can then lift the scissors away.
- Comb the hair forward over the eyes and trim in a semi circle shape. Then tidy up the inside corners (if you aren’t used to doing this then make sure you come at a downward angle towards the bridge of the nose instead of upwards pointing towards the eyeball)
If the above fails, call your groomer!

Home Grooming Tip No.3 - Drying! Non-shed breed owners and in particular Doodle/Cockapoo/Bichon crosses this one’s for you 👈🏻 DO NOT follow your natural instincts and vigorously rub the towel on a long coated dog’s hair to get them dry. This will create matting as the hair knits together under the friction of the rubbing. Instead, squeeze the moisture out first with your hands and then follow with a towel, downwards and in sections. Only when you have as much moisture out as possible using this method should you reach for the hair dryer. This goes for drying them off from being out in the rain too! ☔️

Home Grooming Tip Number 2 - Paws! Make sure you scrub in between their toes and in and around their paw pads. Unsurprisingly the feet are usually one of the smelliest areas of your dog and carry a serious amount of bacteria so you’ll want to get them really clean. (You will be surprised at what you find in there 🤢) ..... In particular this is important for long haired dogs as the hair on the feet mats easily as it’s constantly getting wet and chafing against the skin, which can be very uncomfortable for them to have to walk on. Keeping it clean and tangle free also means you can avoid the chicken feet look when you go to get them groomed, as matted feet will often have to be clipped very short!

We Love Big Mutts! And we love stripping off all that dead coat that would otherwise be decorating your floor, furniture and clothes!
With the change in season and central heating going back on you will notice your dog’s shedding will soon begin to increase, and double coated breeds especially will start to feel the heat. In order for them to regulate their body temperature they need to have their dead hair removed so their skin isn’t blocked from warming and cooling them as required. Check out how the dead hair flys off this Samoyed with a blast and deshed treatment - we had to wait til about 45 mins into the blasting process just so the camera could capture it without a blizzard of white fluff blocking the view!
