For the love of horses! How did we get to this situation????
Time for action. Democratic, from the ground up action. I am sick and tired of feeling ashamed of the way the sport I love is represented. In the troubling times we live in, with the constant eroding of our equestrian pursuits in all forms of media, the lack of support from the Irish government, a dysfunctional governing body is the last thing we need!
My feelings are growing from constant frustration to serious fear over the future of horse sports in Ireland.
It is time for a serious shake up! Tear it down and start again. Less of the "promoting" and more of the support and development.
Instead of letting the media run with all the bad news stories, why don't we ( equestrians of all walks of life, of the 4 corners of the Island) take the lead and explain why we deserve help and support? Why are horses so important to us? There's now a disconnect with the wider public. Let's speak from the heart and explain it.
I'll start the movement by saying horses in my life, have tought me more life lessons and helped me develop more life skills, applicable to any sphere, (be it health, physical development, technical skills, work ethics, communication, emotional resilience) than any formal education program I followed. I can think of another hundred reasons beside this statement to explain why horses are so important to me but let's hear your reasons. We need to turn the tide, save our way of life, save our sport.
Please comment below and share! Let me know I am not alone feeling this way, let me know horse sports are worth fighting for!
