What a wonderful day we had today with our homebred horses!!
Breeding can be hard work and sometimes very demoralising, but you do it for days like today.
My day started with at 4am and and a 4 hour drive to Kircubbin in Co Down. It was a worth while effort with my lovely 6yr old DSL The Entertainer winning his 3rd CNC1* in a row, and earning his qualification for the young horse class in Millstreet International Horse Trials. Beautifully ridden by Elizabeth Power he did it in style earning a 10 in the dressage to score 18.8. Not bad for his 3rd 1*!!
The day then got better with our homebred Dollanstown finishing a fantastic 3rd in the Puissance at the RDS ridden by Capt Geoff Curran. Nick named Zebadee when we had him, he certainly lived up to it.
We sold Dollanstown to The Equitation School as a 4 yr old, and they have done a wonderful job producing him, having been placed in the Hickstead Derby, Grand Prixs, Puissances, and also jumping on Nations Cup teams!! What a wonderful all rounder. Luckily I still have his full sister, who has a beautiful filly foal this year by Cormint.😄🍾
