September is pain awareness month.

You can tell your pet is in pain by observing changes in their behavior, such as hiding, increased aggression, or a reduced appetite, and by noticing physical signs, such as a hunched posture, limping, excessive grooming, or facial tension.

If you suspect your pet is in pain consult your vet.

Grooming a dog is very important—not just for looks, but for their health, comfort, and overall well-being. The level of grooming needed depends on the breed, coat type, age, and lifestyle, but here are the main reasons it matters:

1. Health Benefits
Skin & Coat Health: Regular brushing removes dirt, dead hair, and prevents painful mats or tangles.

Parasite Control: Grooming helps spot fleas, ticks, and skin infections early.

Circulation: Brushing stimulates natural oils and improves blood flow to the skin.

2. Comfort
Dogs with long or curly coats can get mats that pull at the skin and cause pain.
Overgrown nails make walking uncomfortable and can lead to joint problems.
Clean ears reduce the risk of painful ear infections.

3. Early Detection of Problems
While grooming, you can catch lumps, bumps, cuts, or other issues before they become serious.

4. Hygiene
Regular baths and brushing keep odors down.
Prevents dirt, allergens, and bacteria from building up in the coat.

Did you know...

Smell Over Sight – For humans, vision is our dominant sense. For dogs, it’s smell. They “see the world” with their noses first, then with their eyes. A walk for us is just scenery — for them, it’s a novel full of scents.
