Congratulations to Orla Kelly, Croia McGuinness and Niamh O’Neill for their performances today representing Leitrim Pony Club at the Irish Pony Club Classic Showjumping event held in Coilog Equestrian Centre.

Orla and Croia took part in the 90s qualifying class, it was a huge class with only 6 going through to the final. Unfortunately for Orla and Sakura & Croia and Cocoa today was not their day but they represented their club well and came away with lots of learnings.

Niamh and Mitzy had already secured their spot in the final, having previously qualified at Tubberbride. They jumped a clear first round to make it through to the final jump off. The jump off was a thrilling competitive finale with Niamh and Mitzy starting well but a couple of poles down marked the end of their day. Again lots to take away from the day.

What a fabulous weekend in Punchestown Racecourse for the Defender National and International Tetrathlon Championships. We had 3 members of our small and mighty club competing - Grace & Emily Quinn and Hanora Brady…

First up on Friday evening was the shoot phase - Emily had a fantastic shoot of 880 putting her in 3rd place in the junior girls competition, Hanora and Grace both had good shoots of 800 and 760 respectively putting them in good stead for the weekend ahead

On Saturday came the ride and run…
Emily had an unfortunate stumble from the pony at the water complex but held her score of 1000 points for previous fences, Angel had been out already and came home clear with 1400 point for Grace…

Next up was the run where the weather was hotting up as well as the competition! Hanora had a fabulous run of 1.5km in a time of 5mins 30 (=4th for the National competition and 6th for the international), Grace and Emily recorded respectable times of 5min 48 and 6min 15 respectively

It was all going to come down to the swim on Sunday morning… taking to the pool in the National Aquatic Centre Emily swam 8 length 9m, Hanora a fabulous 9 length 5m and Grace knocked it out with a 10 length 16m swim, taking 2nd place in the swim and putting her in 1st place overall for both National and International champion!

All 3 girls put in a fabulous performance over the whole weekend and whilst not everything went to plan there were smiles and happy faces (the majority of the time!)

Grace and Hanora on the seniors teamed up with Aine Murray from Longford Hunt Branch of Irish Pony Club and Michelle Lee from Golden Vale to take national team 5th, Hanoras team was 4th international and Graces team of Victoria Roche, Ellie Dillon, Aine Murray and Cora Finn took International team 1st 🏆👏🏻👏🏻

Grace was also delighted to be presented with the Kruger Perpetual Trophy as the top International girl in the competition- it was a honor and a delight and we are proud to say Congratulations from all at Leitrim Pony club - great things come from the ‘small and mighty’

A huge thank you to all the organisers, sponsors, course builders and everyone involved in the running and organisation of a fabulous competition weekend

Well done to all our competitors yesterday in Tubberbride for the Area6 qualifiers.

Our small and mighty club did great once again…

Zara & Emma were 4th & 5th respectively in U12 combined training

In the Novice class we had a great time! Croia 1st, Orla 2nd, Amy 4th, Meara 5th, and an unplanned dismount for Isla took her out of the running.

Juniors Niamh took 3rd place in a very competitive class alongside Aoibhinn and Emily

And a huge congratulations to Hanora who booked her place to the RDS in the open combined training class.

Our teams saw Niamh amalgamating with Longford and Sligo for the Robbie Bailey and Aoibhinn and Emily amalgamating with Longford for the John Leddingham - both the teams will go forward to the Barnadown Festival 🤩👏🏻

Our newest member Chloe also competed in the non qualifier classes - clear in 60’s and also the horsemanship class 👏🏻

Well done everyone 👏🏻👏🏻
