Do I need to worry about fleas?

Tom woke up one day to numerous small, itchy spots on his ankles. When he looked over at his best friend, and dog – Bailey, Tom noticed she was itching as well.
Tom had noticed fleas on Bailey before but assumed that the flea treatment he’d given Bailey 6 weeks before would have killed all the fleas. Fed up, and itchy – Tom and Bailey headed to the vet.
At the practice, the vet explained how the flea life cycle worked, and that a single monthly dose of flea treatment still left both Bailey, and Tom at risk as the infestation of fleas in the home can take more than three months to resolve. The vet suggested that longer lasting protection was going to be the best course of action for Bailey’s fleas and would also give more time for the home infestation to clear.
