Centered and balanced saddle

An example of what can be done with an Erreplus Saddle:

This was a Full Panel Size 32 Erreplus saddle (Pic.1)fitted in 2018 for a narrow horse with high withers. When that horse was sold, the rider started riding a much wider horse with big shoulders. The rider loved his saddle, but as there was no possibility this saddle would fit the new horse, we sent it back to the Erreplus Headquarters in Italy. A few days ago this same saddle came back with new Shoulder Liberty panels and tree size adjusted to size 34 (Pic.2&3)

Looks like new! ❤️👌

Seasons end and I have a few Demo /Second hand Erreplus saddles available. If the saddles below are unsuitable just contact me and I can put you on a list if others become available. Likewise for Dressage saddles.
❗️Don't forget tree size can be altered very easily in Ireland.

😃 Just finished a busy few days fitting new and demo Erreplus saddles for customers. Don't forget, you can come to my yard with your horse and have a free trial of the Jumping, Dressage and Eventing models of the Erreplus range. No obligation to buy and no charge. I'm happy to check your own saddle if you wish, as maybe you don't need a new saddle and perhaps a correction pad will suffice.
For those of you from further afield we can arrange a visit to your yard with the saddles, if that suits you better!

Hi Folks!

❗️Santa has asked me to inform you all, if anyone has an Erreplus saddle on their Christmas '24 wishlist📝, his Elves have to begin the process of manufacturing this week - so last orders🎁 been taken now!!
I know its early, but he says his Elves get very upset when someone is disappointed if the order is not completed in time and Santa does not like to upset his Elves!! 🧙‍♂️
Assesories can be ordered up to beginning of December.

Planning to be in the Leinster area later this coming week with a large range of Jumping, Eventing and Dressage saddles, so please let me know if you need fitting checked or you wish to have a sit on one of these saddles and feel the difference it can make to your horses way of going.

I recently returned from completing my saddle fitting qualification at The College of Saddle Fitting in England, where we had an interesting discussion on the use of half pads and different types of girths and the effect they have on saddle fit. It was refreshing to listen to Master Saddlers embrace the use of correction pads to help find the correct saddle fit for the horse, which helps balance the rider, which ultimately helps the horse move better.
Although lovely in theory, in a busy yard, it is not practical to have an individual made-to-measure saddle for every horse, while a correction pad can be a big help in fitting a second hand saddle.
An analogy I often use- if your shoe size is 40 there is no way you can wear a size 38 shoe but if you put on a thick sock, you could wear a size 41 shoe. It's the same with a saddle - too narrow a saddle will never fit a wider horse but with judicious use of correct shim pads a slightly too wide saddle can fit a narrower horse. I emphasise 'correct shim pads ' as the wrong half-pad will only exasperate the problem.
For anyone with Erreplus saddles- particularly yards with many different horses or new arrivals using the same saddle, I am happy to come to your yard, check the fit and give advice on the best configuration of saddle and shim pad to suit each horse and rider. Horses do change shape as they muscle up so all saddle fit should be checked from time to time.

Saddle position:
Also a reminder to riders to be careful not to position your saddle too far forward on your horses shoulders, especially if you are using a Shoulder Free Erreplus Saddle.
Showjumpers especially, are inclined to put the saddle too far forward, as we feel, inevitable it will slip back.
Why does it slip back?
Because the Shoulder movement of the horse pushes it back and if your saddle is tight on the shoulders it will cause discomfort to your horse as it constantly meets the resistance of an ill fitting saddle with possibly an over tightened girth -then add a breast plate to put more pressure on the horses chest and shoulders!!!
If you are riding in an Erreplus SL Saddle please follow the gudelines below to position your saddle. With the freedom the Shoulder Liberty saddles gives the horses shoulder, it will remain where you position it, so if you position it too far forward, the girth will pinch them at the elbow and inhibit the horses movement.
The type of girth is also important- but that's a whole other topic for another day!

A helpful guide is when your horse is standing square, to place 4 fingers between the elbow and girth as shown in Pic. 4.
