End of an era!
Hey everybody.
As a lot of you know, I went part-time in 2020 to start studying healthcare and the time as come for my full transition in to my new career.
It's been an absolute joy and pleasure meeting all of you and your doggies through the years ❤️
I've loved every minute of it but it's time for a change!
I'll always be grateful for each and every one of ye and I'll always be a crazy dog lady ❤️

To be clear, while I am closing my salon, my dad's kennel business is open as normal!

This little senior Bichon has arrived to us recently, and although he's not yet ready for homing we'd like to highlight the importance of grooming. We've named him Sherlock (as no blade of grass goes uninvestigated when he's out walking!).

Sherlock's coat was in absolutely shocking condition, it is obvious that he hasn't been professionally groomed in a terribly long time. His little body was tightly matted all over and a horrendous amount of his own f***s were matted into the coat. His coat was absolutely casted solid round his legs, leaving him extremely uncomfortable and impairing movement. Beneath his coat he was covered in flea dirt and obviously had an ongoing infestation. He's since been fully clipped off, washed and blowdried and he's feeling so much better for it - though it took a bit of adapting to get used to feeling air against his skin again.

Matting on dogs is not just a matter of looking unappealing,
- It's uncomfortable and painful and can pull the skin causing bruising.
- It compromises circulation of the limbs in cases like Sherlock's.
- It hides hotspots and wounds on the skin
- It holds moisture and increases risk of skin infections due to ongoing dampness
- It impairs temperature regulation
- It makes it impossible to see the presence of ectoparasites such as fleas under the coat.

Dogs with a Bichon or poodle type coat need professional grooming every 6-8 weeks approximately, but every dog and coat type can reap the benefits of regular brushing and professional grooming!
