Frankie was recently admitted to our hospital feeling unwell, with a tender abdomen. The attending vet, Laura, conducted blood tests, which indicated the need for further investigation. An X-ray revealed a sewing needle and thread lodged in his abdomen, necessitating an emergency laparotomy to prevent any further damage.

The surgery was delicate, but with vet Laura and Nurse Vera's compassion, skill, dedication and expertise it made all the difference!
They provided Frankie with the best chance of survival. We are thrilled to report that Frankie returned for a post-operative check-up and had his stitches removed. He is now in excellent health!

๐Ÿšจ Attention all wildlife lovers! ๐Ÿฆ…๐Ÿ’”

Unfortunately our staff at that Longford Animal Health Centre are currently unable to take in any sick or injured wild birds due to Avian influenza.
This is a tough time for our feathered friends, and we appreciate your understanding.
If you suspect Avian Influenza in your area, please call the Avian Influenza Hotline at 01 607 2512 between 9am and 6pm. ๐Ÿ“ž
Together, we can protect our wildlife!

โš ๏ธ Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) H5N1 has recently been confirmed in a wild buzzard in Co. Dublin.

โš ๏ธ Do not pick up or touch sick or dead wild birds, and keep your pets away from them.

โš ๏ธ We urge all poultry keepers to be vigilant for signs of bird flu and ensure their premises are biosecure.

๐Ÿพ Have you ever wondered how to make a trip to the vet a breeze for your furry friend? ๐Ÿˆโœจ
Daisy's journey to the hospital for neutering was made comfortable & safe by her owners. With a cozy carrier bag that allowed her to see the world around her and she stayed calm and curious throughout the journey .๐Ÿš—๐ŸŒผ After her procedure, though a bit groggy, Daisy quickly bounced back to her playful self, and was discharged in the afternoon!๐Ÿฉบ๐Ÿง‘โ€โš•๏ธ

With the use of carriers / cages and a sprinkle of love, vet visits can turn from stressful to seamless!

๐Ÿšจ Attention Pet Parents! ๐Ÿšจ
Ensuring your furry friend's safety during their visit to our clinic is a top priority? ๐Ÿพ
To provide the best care for your beloved cats and dogs, we have implemented some new practice policies:

๐Ÿฑ Cats must be securely enclosed in a cat carrier.
๐Ÿถ All dogs must be on a lead.
โš ๏ธ All restricted breeds must wear a muzzle.
These measures are in place to protect both your pets and our team.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation! ๐Ÿ•โค๏ธ

๐Ÿพโ„๏ธ Is your furry friends feeling the chill this morning? Just like us, our beloved pets, farm animals & wild animals need extra love and care during the cold months! ๐Ÿถ๐Ÿฑ๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿฆ…๐Ÿฆ†

Here are some tips to keep them warm and safe:
1. Cosy Shelter: Ensure they have a warm, dry place to lie away from drafts.
2. Proper Nutrition: Increase their food intake slightly to help them maintain body heat.
3. Hydration: Check their water supply regularly. It can freeze quickly in cold weather!
4. Shorter Walks: For pets, opt for shorter toilet breaks but more frequent ones.
5. Watch for Signs: Keep an eye out for shivering or reluctance to go outside โ€“ it's a sign they need to warm up!
๐Ÿฆ…Wild birds need our help too!
Provide fresh water, nutritious birdseed, and shelter like birdhouses or shrubs. Keep feeders clean and check for any frozen water sources. Your support can make a big difference in their survival during harsh winter months!
Let's keep all our animal friends safe and snug!
