Do you struggle with high SCC cows? ⬇️⬇️

🇮🇪 Struggling with chronically high SCC dairy cows, and pondering whether to cull them or not?

Chronically high SCC can be the consequence of several factors on farms. In some animals, they are confusingly similar to values related to subclinical mastitis, but they are actually different.

In addition to high SCC scores for more than four months, these cows do not show clinical signs of mastitis, but they can relapse (if mastitis has occurred in previous lactations). Alternatively, they are multiparous and usually highly producing cows in late lactation (7 or 8 months after calving) with possible intramammary tissue stress.

Is there any chance to help them?

Yes, and it is called OZOLEA-MAST. It supports mammary tissue functionality. While applying OZOLEA-MAST, the tissue is allowed to autonomously regenerate: the result of tissue regeneration is a reduction in epithelial flaking (flaking cells) and a better defensive action against pathogens. Thus, lower SCC values that last.

Flystrike can not only affect sheep in the warmer weather. Llamas and alpacas can also fall victim to an attack. 🦙🐑🐏

Clipping away dirty fleece alongside treating the flock with your vet’s recommendation of parasitic and coupled with a flystrike control treatment are best practice methods to prevent flies from laying eggs in the fleece.
