“Clonfert’s Melody’s Boy” (Aka Dave) did us very proud on his first visit to Horse of the Year Show at Birmingham 2024. Being 6 years old finishing 5th in his class and jumping a lovely clear round against the best in the country who are seasoned campaigners is a great achievement. For a young stallion to cope with that atmosphere and to do it like a pro is such a Credit to Amy Canavan - Smith and the dedication and work she has shown to Dave over the last 12 months.
Standing there watching Amy yesterday and the care and positive vibe and reassurance she gives to Dave not just in the ring but talking to him in the stable and on the walk down just beams me with pride as I was always taught since I was a kid to talk to your pony.
Standing on the side lines with Laura, my sister Carmel and our showing family is never easy watching, but the lines Amy rode yesterday with Dave were just beautiful to watch and to go clear was such a lovely end to what was Dave’s first Season under his belt in the big leagues.
We have believed in this pony since he was a foal and knowing all the work Amy has done and all the care Laura have put in and the battles I have had to keep his Crown Jules intact at times all paid off yesterday.
I’d like to congratulate all our fellow competitors and showing family on their amazing results over this week at Hoys!! We are so thrilled for you all!! Super delighted for all the great results that Amy and the team have had this week. Congratulations to Aunty Vikki on her great results and a big shout out to our great friend Ross keyes for his super and emotional win yesterday after his father passing away last week. Such a lovely moment for you and Anna.
Massive thank you to Scotts of Thrapston for presenting us with lovely new Rugs for Dave and Pedro and Gilets for the Team and the continued support from Fiona Cork saddles and to everyone who came over to us and sent messages of good wishes we really do appreciate it!!
