Our Story
Ainninn House is the home of Paul Mullen and Liz Freeman, and our dogs, horses, sheep, cats, and hens. We have been breeding Irish Draughts and sport horses for the last 20+ years (Paul in Ireland and Liz in America under her previous prefix Lionwood). Paul is a fully qualified Irish Shows Association judge with decades of experience producing and handling horses for the breed show ring. Liz is an equine veterinarian with a special interest in equine reproduction. Since 2011, both Liz and Paul have been members of the Horse Sport Ireland studbook inspection panel for Irish Draught stallions and mares.
Based in Co. Westmeath in the Irish midlands, we stand traditional Irish stallions, including Class 1 Gold & Silver Merit Irish Draught horse stallion Lionwood Kinsaleās Lad, Class 1 Connemara pony stallion Inverin Rocky, Thoroughbred stallion Yaakooum (IRE), and Class 2 Connemara pony stallion Glenmore Fear Donn.
The Ainninn House broodmare herd includes several well related purebred Irish Draught mares and both traditionally bred and continental-cross ISH mares from strong performance families. Although our highest priority with our purebreds is temperament, we breed our IDs with a critical eye towards breed type, structural correctness, and athleticism. Our ISH are bred with the sport of eventing in mind. We strongly believe the inclusion of Connemara blood in sport horse breeding boosts athleticism and hardiness while providing crucial outcross genetics to the Traditional Irish Horse (TIH) breeding herd. We occasionally have foals and youngstock available for purchase.
We offer a variety of additional services including AI, foaling, breeding or purchase consultations, inspection/sales prep, marketing services (pedigree research, website content, advertising copy), professional equine photography, and more.
