❌ Rabbits are not good pets for children & are most definitely not a good Easter gift ❌

Rabbits might look like a cuddly toy & therefore be attractive to children who see a cute, fluffy bunny and decide they want one. However the reality is that Rabbits are rarely cuddly and children often lose interest quickly.

When purchased as a gift for a child, rabbits are often left alone in a hutch at the end of the garden or even abandoned. This is why it’s important to educate yourself on their needs before committing.

It’s that time of year again where people begin to prepare their gardens for spring and summer.

As always we plead with you to be more conscious in your clean up.
Before firing up your strimmers and lawnmowers, take a moment to check for hedgehogs and other small creatures hiding in the vegetation.
These machines are lethal for wildlife, causing serious injuries or even fatalities. This little lady is one such victim, she was very badly injured by a strimmer. Her recovery is slow but she is under the best care here at the centre.

Let’s all do our part to safeguard our prickly friends and other wildlife by being vigilant before we trim!

UPDATE: GAVIN HAS FOUND HIS FOREVER HOME

We had thought we had found a forever home for Gavin, but unfortunately, it has fallen through. This little boy was found hiding under a car, underweight and needing treatment for mange. He is now ready to find his new home after recovering, although his ears are still quite bad. But through it all, he has been an angel. He is a typical Jack Russell and he is only about 4 months old. He loves cuddles and has such an expressive little face. He is constantly on the go and chasing his foster siblings. He is socialised with dogs and cats.

This little guy needs an active home which will meet his physical and mental needs as he is definitely very clever! We don't recommend a home with children under 8 for this boy as he is still learning not to be rough when playing.

He has been vaccinated, treated for worms and fleas and has been microchipped (972274001593234). There is a €200 adoption fee to partly offset his veterinary costs and this also covers his future, mandatory neutering when he is old enough at one of the Veterinary Practices with whom we have an account.

If you are interested in learning more about Gavin please call 0861751841

A homecheck and purchase of a dog license is required as part of the adoption process.

The Kildare & West Wicklow Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (KWWSPCA) is a registered charity (Number CHY6280) and is registered with the Charities Regulatory Authority (Number 20011048). DAFM reg. number IPT200001C.
