visiting the vets for the first time with an animal with diabetes
Diabetes is reported to affect anywhere between 1 in 100 to 1 in 500 dogs and cats. But experts believe that this disease is on the rise. Can diabetes lead to other health problems? Yes. Dogs and cats with diabetes can develop other health problems, usually after living with diabetes for a year or more. For dogs, the most common complication of diabetes is cataract formation. For cats, weakness of the hind legs is a common complication. For both dogs and cats, avoiding high blood glucose levels should help prevent or delay these complications. For this reason, early diagnosis of diabetes in your dog or cat is especially important.
*Annie has found her forever home*
This is little Annie, who is a little stray in need of a loving forever home. During the weekend a couple seen her thrown from a car in the middle of a busy road! They rescued her straight away and brought her straight into our care so we could check her over. We are now looking for a home for this little darling. As you can see she is a very loving dog, all she looks for is care and attention. As we are a vets she isn't getting enough interaction and walks to meet her energy level here with us. As you can see from her bed she loves to play with her toys and knocking her water over in the fun! she is a very friendly and timid little misses who is looking for a loving family to take her in to give her the love she deserves. she is only young around 5/6 months so would be perfect for somebody who is looking to take on a young energetic dog. If you would be interested in adopting this little cuties please message us or send us an email.
Hello everyone. This is Rascal. He needs a home. He was brought into us two days ago to be euthanized. His owner is elderly and she said that he is just too lively for her. As such she was not taking him walking or doing much with him for that matter. He is quite friendly but a little nervous due to his lack of socialisation. We decided not to euthanize but try to find a home for him. He is about two and a half to three years old, he's already neutered. The previous owner claimed he is a cross between a Greyhound and a Jack Russell terrier!! We will continue to assess him here over the next few days but are confident that he would make a good pet for an active family. If anyone is interested or know someone that would be, please get in touch. Thank you.
We have a few kittens in clinic that are in need of good homes. They are all around 3 months old. The black kitten in the video is the only boy and we fortunately found someone to give him a home yesterday. The two females are still in need of homes. If anyone us interested, please contact us in clinic.
