This is definitely so accurate today. Headed out at 8.30am it was a beautiful🌞 sunny morning so warm I took my coat🧥 off. I actually messaged Sam's Pet Services Navan to let them know what a beautiful day it actually was. 20 minutes later it got windy🌬 & cold. ❄️I wasn't giving in so left coat off till it started raining 🌧🌧. 😩

This lovely cat went missing in silver lawns recently. Can we all please keep an eye out for her? She is an indoor only cat and she is not familiar with the area so please give me a call if you spot her and need help getting to her. Please share and keep a close eye out for her if your visiting Blackwater Park or any of the surrounding area
Thanks

Animals are throughly amazing 🥰. I had the pleasure of doing a Pet Taxi run to Tallaght yesterday evening for Last Hope Animal Charity with one week old Wiggles who was found abandoned in Navan. New Mum Lulu who is in foster with Clondalkin Animal Aid was amazing and took on a 4th kitten to rear.

It's National Volunteering week and we would like to thank each and every of our active volunteers. We couldn't do what we do without you 🥰

We always need more volunteers, so if you live in the
Meath area, and can help us with fundraising, transport,
TNR, dog or cat fostering we would love to hear from you - http://www.lasthope.ie/index.php/i-want-to-volunteer

Simple Analogy — Why rescues can’t save them all…

Every time rescue is asked to take an owner surrender- we have to somehow make room on our little raft for that dog.
When an owner says stuff like “I don’t have time to give them the best life” or “I have to move” or “they have too much anxiety” it really falls flat because that means if we bring them on the raft, another dog out there in the freezing water (pounds and shelters) gets to die.

Every day rescue adjudicate life and death by gate keeping who can get on the boat.

Rescues Groups are the tiny Rescue Boats.

The Ship is our community at large.

The iceberg is comprised of puppy mills, careless owners, backyard breeders, and irresponsible people who won’t spay/neuter.

Please be kind to rescue groups, we are trying our best!

Update
Minty has been found and home

Minty travelled in a van from Trim Co Meath. She jumped out of the van in Dunboyne Co Meath in front of the church at approx 7pm last night (16 May 2024).

She is a much loved family pet. Please keep a lookout for her in Dunboyne and contact 083-815-5628 if you spot her.

Jess is a 4 year old collie who needs a new home due to a change in circumstances.

Jess is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped, and she is lead trained and house trained. Jess is an indoor dog.

Jess is very selective about other dogs she interacts with, and she is very curious about all other animals except foxes. She is still working hard on trusting humans, especially the male ones and has come very far to date. Jess does have some issues with children as they tend to be loud and sometimes too physical for her, leaving her scared and overwhelmed. She does not like loud noises or crowded areas - that being said she gets daily walks though Dublin city lasting anywhere from 90 - 180 minutes and has demonstrated remarkable bravery in learning to achieve this. She now can do this even at peak times and without any need for a leash, relying on verbal cues and hand signals for direction.

Jess has come so far and displayed so much integrity and courage given she had a hard start in life. She is exceedingly patient, gentle, polite, kind and very intelligent. She loves to play fetch with her ball and is ready for an adventure or important mission at a nano-seconds notice. She retains celebrity status in her local supermarket (in Dublin 1) where receives free breakfast daily and is officially the only non-guide dog allowed in the store, by order of management.

Jess is an extraordinary dog with a host of hidden skills, talents and abilities.

_ Please Note _
Jess is not in the care of Last Hope and have not been assessed by a Last Hope volunteer. If you can offer Jess a good home, please contact the owner directly via the telephone number provided in the post. All arrangements from that point on are made between the new and old owners, independently of Last Hope.

Great Advice

Another summer is approaching and temperatures are on the rise again and it makes me so sad to know that a lot of dogs will suffer again in the coming months. I am not only talking about double-coated dogs that were bred for much colder climates but also your average terrier or Chihuahua as an example.

As the temperatures rise, it's crucial to prioritize your dog's well-being during walks. Dogs are more sensitive to heat than we are, and walking them during the warmest hours of the day can put them at risk of heat-related issues. 🌡☀

🔥 Excessive heat can lead to paw pad burns, dehydration, and even life-threatening heatstroke for our beloved companions. 😢❌

🕒 So, let's adjust our routines and choose cooler times for walks. Early mornings or late evenings provide relief from the scorching heat, ensuring safer and more comfortable walks for our pups. 🌅🚶‍♀️

💦 Don't forget to bring water and a portable bowl to keep your dog hydrated during the walk. Let's keep those tails wagging and their water bowls full! 💧🐾

🏡 When it's just too hot, explore alternative activities like indoor games, puzzle toys, or a splash in a shaded area. Let's get creative and keep our furry friends entertained while beating the heat! 🎾🌳

Remember, our dogs rely on us to keep them safe and comfortable. Let's make responsible decisions and ensure their happiness and well-being, one paw at a time. ❤🐶
