Established in 1947, we are a full-service veterinary practice based in Nenagh, County Tipperary. Nine veterinarians and our dedicated and professional staff serve the needs of large and small animal clients throughout the North Tipperary area. Our medical facility located at 26 Summerhill in Nenagh has a clinic and surgery with state-of-the-art equipment, and a well-stocked pharmacy and shop. 🥹Poor “G” came into us at Summerhill Vets recently in a lot of pain. He was just after suffering a fracture to his jaw 🙈😣
Thankfully, vets Aine and Caoimhe, with the help of nurses Aisleen, and Martina, immediately set about making him better. 🦸
Lots of pain relief cheered him up and, once sedated, X-rays showed the extent of the damage.
An intricate, delicate procedure followed, which ended with the fracture stabilised completely. 😊 A light wire was wound around the teeth, almost like braces.
“G” was back in last week to get the wire removed and he’s able to smile again 😄😄

Feel Good Friday 😍 Everyone, meet Thor. The happiest dog, despite having a fractured toe 🤕
Vet Aine, with the help of nurses Aisleen and Martina, took X-rays to diagnose the issue. With a nice bandage and lots of pain relief, Thor went hope, having never stopped smiling the whole way through. Happy Friday 😊

We often say that puppies are like children in the way that the behave and the we way we love them unconditionally 😊😍
Well, Charlie is no different. He came to see our vet, Caoimhe, for a full health check and vaccines.
However, he wasn’t “feeling it” and, despite how cute he looks, he wasn’t going to take part in a photoshoot and smile for the camera 😂
Caoimhe finally won him over, after lots of cuddles and bribes 🍪
The first photo is when Caoimhe finally got Charlie to say cheese. 😁
The rest, are the bloopers 😂

Sandy was such a sweet and patient lady when she visited us last week at Summerhill Vets. 🐶😊
Sandy has had itchy ears and skin so we decided to investigate. Aine took some swabs from her ears and looked at them under the microscope. 🕵️‍♀️
Using the microscope, we can find out what is responsible for the Sandy’s itchy ears and tailor the treatment to suit. 🧴
Sandy will be back to see us soon, when she should be much happier, and a lot less itchy 😊

** Urgent - injured cat
A kind member of the public brought us in a cat last night who had been hit by a car.
He was found in Newtown near Barry’s pub.
He is male and neutered .
Unfortunately he has some very serious injuries to his head so we are using a photo of body to show his colour.

🐱Mags was looking for a new home, but before she could, she had to stay with us for a while at Summerhill Vets. She couldn’t eat very well so we took some dental X-ray, which revealed damaged tooth roots 🦷Aine performed some intricate surgery to remove the offending roots, requiring stitches on the inside of Mag’s mouth. All the staff took turns looking after Mags, making sure she made a full recovery 🤕
Mags has now found a loving, forever home with Louise and Tommy, where she can relax to her hearts content😊😊😊

🤗We’re at ground zero and about to pour foundations. The excitement 🎉
Massive progress being made by to get to this point in such a short time.

It’s an ambitious project, but we hope that when it’s completed, we will be able to continue to offer our high standard of care and service in a purpose built, spacious, modern building 🤞🏻🤞🏻💪

🥹An emotional day at Summerhill Vets today as we had our last day in what is soon to be the “old building”. From Monday, entry to the vet clinic will be from the street which will be well sign posted. We are about to undergo some major renovations over the next few months as we build a new, purpose built clinic to serve the needs of all of our customers. It will be business as usual for the duration of the build, other than the change of entrance and parking will have to be on the street in the short term.
It will help if you phone ahead with orders and to book appointments (also available to be booked online).
We will post regular updates of the new build as we progress and we can’t wait to have you all in our shiny new clinic when it’s built.
Rolo was our last furry friend to be seen in the old consult room and he was so happy to see us and have his photo taken 😊😊🤗

🛀🐶Susie has a skin condition that requires her to get a medicated bath with a special shampoo.
She really enjoyed the spa treatment at Summerhill Vets and our nurse Martina even gave her a relaxing head massage 💆‍♀️ 😍

These fluffy bundles of cuteness were in with us today for their vaccines and general health check.
🤗A nice way to start the bank holiday weekend 💚☘️
We’re open tomorrow (Saturday) from 9-5. We are closed Sunday and bank holiday Monday, but in the event of an emergency, there is a vet on call 24/7. We are open as normal again on Tuesday 19th. Have a great long weekend 🤗

Rory the cat paid us a visit today. He wasn’t overly impressed when he saw his name on the surgery list with “castration” written beside it 🙈😂
When he recovered from the anaesthetic, he was completely unfazed and with some pain relief on board, he was in great form heading home 🤗🐱

🐶The cutest and the best patient - Lexie was feeling “out of sorts” on Friday and wasn’t getting any better on Saturday morning. ☹️
Áine was on duty for Saturday morning clinic and she knew that Lexie was more than a little under the weather ☔️
An ultrasound scan revealed that Lexie had a pyometra. This is a condition where the uterus fills up with a nasty fluid, which, if left untreated, could ultimately be fatal. 🙈
While Martina, our nurse on duty, closely monitored the general anaesthetic, Aine carefully removed the infected uterus 🪄👩‍⚕️
Lexie has since made a great recovery and was in super form when she was back in for a check up today 🤗

😍😍 Summerhill Vets came to a standstill yesterday when the most gorgeous puppies arrived in for their first vaccines and health check 🐶
It wasn’t quite 101 Dalmatians, but there was certainly a lot of them 🤗
All puppies should be vaccinated by a vet and have a full health check to give them the best possible start in their lives.Your vet will advise on the best food for growing young pups as well as a parasite treatment plan going forward

🐶Ernie and Cosmo relaxing before the bank holiday weekend. They were both in with us during the week for their vaccines. 🤗 Aren’t they gorgeous!
Don’t forget it’s a bank holiday weekend this weekend m. We are open 9-5 tomorrow and then we are closed on Saturday and Sunday. As always, we have a vet on call 24/7 for emergencies. Have a great weekend 🤗

❄️🥶Mary-Kate and Ashley were taking full advantage of the trip in their carrier to share body heat. 😊 They both had a full check up and parasite treatment and were back home in their warm beds in no time 😍

🐶The most beautiful puppies came to visit us today. ☺️ They had a full health check by our vet Caoimhe. They were microchipped and vaccinated too. Everyone didn’t want them to go home 😍

🦜 Pedro the wagtail chick was brought in to us last week, his nest was targeted by a cat so he needed to be rescued. 🪶After a few hours making us fall in love with him and his little cheeps he went off to The Hogsprickle Wildlife Carers - Wildlife advice, care and rehabilitation to be reared and hopefully released once he is grown 🥰 #veterinary #nenagh #wagtail #chick
