Nice to be featured on the Irish Independent today.
Lovely to host Grace Maher and discuss the opportunities and challenges ahead.
Local food is more important now than ever before and it’s not until you see it on the paper something that we actually take a breath and be proud of what we do.
Our aim is to diversify the farm and preserve what we have to produce a wide range of products for the organic market.

It’s been a very hot, busy few weeks on the farm.
I think the photos tell it all.

We are so fortunate to be able to grow this gorgeous food for people.
We pour our hearts and souls into our work taking very little time out especially during the critical months of the summer to get our field stacked with produce.
We have some great businesses we work with.

Nice to have our pic on today’s Sunday Independent.
I was fortunate to have been involved in the ACORNS programme this year, a six month part-time development programme for female entrepreneurs. This was funded through the Dept of Agriculture, Food and the Marine.

A core element of the ACORNS programme is the involvement of Lead Entrepreneurs, women who have already started and successfully grown businesses in rural Ireland.
I was fortunate to have had Norma Dineen of Bó Rua Farm as my lead and she had a wealth of knowledge and experience to share with us.
It has been inspiring to see the other businesses in my group go from strength to strength over the last year and looking forward to seeing their future developments.

So nice to be featured in today’s Irish Independent.
Very proud of what we have achieved so far and really hope that our hard work and commitment to making a good living for our family from this farm will continue to grow.

Feel so fortunate to have this amazing asset to work with and to hopefully have for generations to come.

Gorgeous baby calves.

I don’t get to highlight the other side to Larkin’s Hill Farm often enough but these smashing calves have been a joy to watch coming along all spring and will continue for a while yet.

First calf heifers by Anatrim Dubai and throwing serious calves after Stock bull Anatrim King.

Gorgeous stock.

Big weekend of planting on the farm.

We worked through from Friday to yesterday evening getting our first big outdoor planting of the season in the ground.

Timing was ideal plants got a nice gentle watering in with some light showers during the night so hopefully that will have been a successful few days work.

Everything from Swede, broccoli, cauliflower, kale, onions, spring onions, planted.

Tired but very satisfied farmers this morning.

Fresh mixed Salad leaves made their return today to and it feels like this winter has been going on forever.

It certainly hasn’t been a kind few months on veg growers.
We feel so lucky to have really good customers and outlets who understand the seasonality of food and the effort and commitment it takes to get fresh produce from seed to plant to their shop shelves.

Roll on the summer and the abundance of gorgeous fresh local food it brings.
