πŸ” Spotlight on services: X-RAYS! πŸ”

Say hello to Toby πŸ‘‹

This week, Toby was in for some x-rays.

Why do we use x-rays? πŸ€”

Well, they are a common imaging technique that vets use to get a picture of what is going on inside your pet.

They can help us get a view of their bones, tissues, and internal organs. We then use them to help diagnose a wide range of issues, including broken bones, bladder stones, and swallowed foreign objects!

Would you like us to share some of the x-rays we take?

This week is Diabetes Awareness Week. Did you know that diabetes can affect your pets, too? πŸ€”

Diabetes is a condition that develops when they can't produce enough insulin to control their blood sugar level, causing it to become dangerously high. πŸ“ˆ

It is a serious condition that, without treatment, can lead to death.

The good news, though, is that most well managed diabetic animals that respond to treatment live long and happy lives! πŸ™Œ

If you're worried that your furry friend may have diabetes, contact Lissenhall Vets for a health check and urine sample test.

Our friends at Kildare Wildlife Fund are just incredible.

Any support will be greatly appreciated 😊

After a very long day yesterday, which ran late into the night. Our volunteers played a blinder. We admitted 38 live oiled birds yesterday.
Some more heavily oiled than others.

There were also many who had succumbed to the oil.

This tragic event is unprecedented for our little rescue, and it is one we had hoped would never happen. We are beyond lucky that several of our volunteers attended Oiled Wildlife Rescue training with Oiled Wildlife Response Network over the last couple of years.

These new admissions will put immense pressure on our already stretched finances so we have set up an emergency idonate fund to help rescue, care for and feed these birds.

Please donate if you can. We appreciate each and every cent.

Thank you in advance.

It's when we celebrate our wonderful nurses and the vital role they play in running a practice and caring for our patients, each and every day. 🐢🐾🐱

The Irish Veterinary Nursing Association (IVNA) has written the poem below, and we couldn't have put it better ourselves.

Stay tuned because this month, we will be taking a closer look at our nursing team and their role in the practice. πŸ”Ž
