Name of the poster has been redacted. But this is what I deal with. The comments alone made the person turn the comments off. A simple Google search for some people and shops that give advice and the right size cage too.

How would you deal with this is this was something you walked into in someone's home

Many many thanks to our amazing donator here who shipped me these incredible large bird perches and toys. One in particular is enormous!!!

We could not function without this kind of support.

The box proved to be a great distraction for Emily too while she spent hours without power creating a magical world with it. Parrot enrichment covered, child enrichment inadvertently covered

That was a wild ride of a storm. No power, water, Internet or reception on the phones since Friday at 12.

The house was freezing and dark. I have a fireplace but it's a back boiler so couldnt light it. Thankfully I camp so could cook and have light. I have lost everything in my fridge and most in my freezer. All the veg for the birds that was prepped is now gone. I have to start all over again. But there was only minor damage to the grounds so we are doing good.

There are over 50 messages on both my personal messenger and the parrot rescue one so please be kind.

In discussion about intake of more birds also but they will be going directly to fosters so keep an eye on your messenger and phone.

So if anyone wants to donate towards veg we would appreciate it. Also needing some more large bird toys if anyone has any. Building work for large outdoor aviaries is being planned for this summer and searching for a welder for outdoor large bird play area.

Not really aimed at Parrots but there have been enough warnings about tomorrow about pets outside, even for a toilet break. Bring them inside. Don't let out for a toilet break without a lead. Your fence or wall may be gone.

So many pets go missing and a lead is the answer

FYI

no rehomes this weekend or meetings as it is my son's birthday.

For those of you sending messages - i work full time and can't answer during the day and then it's children and parrots. Messages come last and only if my brain is still functioning or I'm not trying to convince a bird that bedtime is actually amazing

Stay safe with this storm. I will be spending extra time suring up the house and sheds.

I am putting this post up as it has come to my attention that people are purchasing baby birds from breeders/shops. No information is being given to these people thus putting these birds lives in danger.

The dangers involved with hand feeding a baby bird are huge. You need expert help and advice. They require special food, a warm space and feeds every three hours.

It is not easy, please if you want a hand tame baby buy from a reputable shop or breeder. Do your research and then do some more.

We take birds in all the time. We usually receive their toys or food with them which can be very helpful.
This was the kakarikis diet when they came in. This is not ok for any bird and can cause major health issues, this could be part of the reason why one of them is blind.

If you are getting a parrot or any other bird please research their diet. Not all parrots have the same needs either so it is breed specific too ie lorikeets, eclectus, macaw, budgie and so on

Two little kakarikis came to us today from a lady who was caring for her husbands birds. This lady did not have bird experience and fed them a diet of just sunflower seeds and eggs for the past 6months or so
They were put out into a cold shed at the start of winter which was damp which caused a bacterial eye infection. You can see from the short video that this little girl has extreme sight issues
I believe she has a very narrow area of vision. If you pause the video you will see a white area within the eyeball.
This little girl is quite young and should not have been put with a mate let alone with a nest box. They have since been separated but within sight. She is now recuperating in an incubator
Vet will be visited in a few days and suppliments have been given along with veggies, pellets, seeds and millet. She is currently tucking into the veggies

There is no judgement with this lady at all.
We are using this information to educate more people. She reached out for us to take them and we have done

We have a new resident today. Meet Margo the Military macaw. We are on a getting to know you basis and she isn't sure yet which is totally fine.

Isn't she just beautiful 😍 ❤️

Only those with an extensive amount of time should think about potentially adopting this bird. Must have large bird experience ie african grey or bigger. Preferably macaw experience. Not fussed about male or female

I spoke with a lovely man during the week who wanted to donate all his stock of food for the birds.
I misunderstood and thought it was a large bag which is always welcome. But just look at what arrived to Pet Stop in Sligo for me!!!!!. Each blenders bucket is packed with food, clay blocks or treats for our larger residents.
Thoughts and love go out to this man who recently lost his beloved grey. And a huge thank you from us for all all the supplies. Thank you for thinking of us in this difficult time

Life is just a little bit busy with work and kids and parrots. Finding is hard to get the time to respond to everyone right now. There have been a lot of training and advice phone calls lately which we are delighted about. Hope to have a space with general information available for parrot issues soon.

Donations have dropped to 0 again. Actually in the negative for the first time in a while.

Barney needs increased medication to deal with his arthritis and we are wat hing him carefully but he is doing well otherwise.

Bella has the hopes of the most incredible home soon, just trying or organise a day to visit which suits them and me. As ye know I do not do visits during the week due to multiple responsibilities and weekends are generally full of cleaning or life.

In dire need of some xl coffee perches at the minute if anyone has any in stock let me know.

Leaving this revolut in the hopes that I can entice a few euro for the birds.

Barney does not like it when I wear my blue hat. 🤣🤣 he gets all huffy and puffy which is just adorable
