☀️ Hot Weather Alert for Pet Owners! ☀️
As temperatures rise, so does the risk of heat stroke in our beloved pets. Unlike humans, animals can’t sweat effectively to cool down—making them more vulnerable to overheating, especially in warm weather.
🐾 What to Watch For: Heat stroke can sneak up quickly. Be alert for:
- Excessive panting or difficulty breathing
- Bright red gums or tongue
- Lethargy, confusion, or unsteadiness
- Vomiting or diarrhoea
- Collapse or seizures in severe cases
🌡️ When Is It Too Hot? For most dogs and cats, temperatures above 20°C can start to pose a risk—especially if they’re active or left in hot environments like cars, conservatories, or poorly ventilated rooms.
🚨 If You Suspect Heat Stroke:
- Move your pet to a cool, shaded area immediately
- Offer cool (not cold) water to drink
- Gently wet them with cool water, especially on their paws, armpits, and belly (do not cover them with a wet towel)
Contact us or your nearest vet urgently—heat stroke is life-threatening and needs immediate care
✅ Prevention Tips:
- Walk dogs early in the morning or late evening
- Avoid hot pavements—if it’s too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for paws
- Never leave pets in vehicles, even for a few minutes
- Keep fresh water and shade always available
