How do you get on your horse? ⭐️In my opinion it is significantly better for your horse to mount them from a mounting block rather than from the ground.▪️Mounting from a block significantly decreases the amount for strain on your horses back muscles and if more comfortable for your horse. ▪️Mounting from the ground generally causes the saddle to move and pull over to one side increasing the strain on your horses back muscles and the repositioning of the saddle is also uncomfortable for your horse. If done on a regular basis this way of mounting can cause pain and discomfort across the horses back. So go and dust off your mounting block and make sure to use it when getting on your horse 👍This video highlights the the significance difference in movement of the saddle between these two methods of mounting.

As part of my work I regularly put together rehabilitation plans for my clients. Some of these depending on the horses ability include raised pole work which I find extremely beneficial to the horses.
🌟Benefits of Raised Pole Work🌟
▪️Improved Balance and Rhythm
▪️Improved Length of Stride
▪️Improved proprioception (Hoof~Eye coordination)
▪️The horse with engage and strengthen their core muscles
▪️Improved flexibility of the thoracic sling muscles (shoulder forelimbs and chest area)
Pole work exercises should be started in walk with ground level poles and gradually built up to trotting over the raised poles. As a qualified Riding coach I am able to assist owners with this. If you would like any further information please let me know.
I’m using a combination of Massage and Reiki with this 2 year old to help release tension and he’s been responding very well.
I am available for appointments in the Offaly, Westmeath areas and also work from home too. For more information give me a call on 0858543837.
