We had an unexpected visitor in the clinic this morning who didn't seem to want to leave 🐦
What could brighten up this dreary Wednesdsy more than these little fluff balls in the clinic today 🥰🐱🐱🐱🐱
These little guys were found 2 days ago on the side of the road by a client out walking his dog. He kindly took them in and cared for them and brought them to us for some veterinary care! They have a bad case of cat flu and we're covered in fleas and lice but are now on treatment and are on the road to recovery!
Nurse Olivia kindly took them home last night for a little extra TLC and had a busy night feeding and caring for them as they are still very young and their tiny tummies need small frequent feeds!
Fingers and toes crossed that they all make a speedy recovery and settle back into their new home in the next few days 🤞💗
How cute is little Roxy 😍
She was with us last week for vaccinations and micro chipping, and while she was here she did some exploring around the clinic! 🐾
Seeing double here this morning in Tullow vet !
"Luna" (female) and "Dark" (male) are both with us to be neutered this morning and will be able to go home in the afternoon once they have had their surgery 🐈🐈
Did you know that over just seven years one un-neutered female cat and her offspring can produce up to 420,000 kittens!!😮
Luckily both Luna and Dark have very responsible owners who are getting them neutered, so luckily they cannot go on to produce any kittens.
If you have any questions about neutering your cat, give us a call on 0599152316 or pop into the clinic and have a chat 😊
FAQ:How do I know if my dog or cat has fleas?
The first signs are obviously scratching and/or bitting excessively at their skin. The typical place for fleas to settle in, is on the rump (the area above the tail) so this is a good spot to start your investigation!
It's difficult to see fleas at a glance so you will need to part the hair so that the skin is visible. The first evidence of fleas that you will find is actually the flea dirt, this is the faeces of the flea which looks like little black spots. In the beginning of the video you can see lots of this in the coat of this particular dog.
So as the saying goes , "There's no smoke without fire", so if you find flea dirt, you will find fleas. You can see later in the video that fleas are very good at hiding, so you may need to do a bit of searching to actually find some adult fleas especially on dark coats.
Our pet in the video has now received a treatment for fleas and so these unwelcome visitors will soon be on their way to flea heaven 😇👋
A simple monthly spot on, or alternatively tablet that will last for 3 months, will prevent a flea infestation and will cure it if your pet is unlucky enough to have some hitchhikers already on board!
Always make sure to buy your flea and tick treatments from a veterinary clinic as other shops and chemist's are not licenced to sell appropriate medication to give your pet the proper protection!
If you have any questions about flea treatments give us a call or pop into the clinic.
Little bear came to visit us today at 6 weeks old Bear needed to get a worm dose. Your puppies are born with worms so need to be wormed every two weeks until roughly 3months. From 8 weeks bear will then receive his vaccinations and 11weeks his booster and that's our lil pup covered for the year☺️

Rocky came to visit us today and made a new friend 😂🐕😊
Another lil patient today after his surgery. Bernard had to have a lumpectomy. As you can see he is recovering great and keeping me company today 😊🐕
This beautiful boy came in to us today for his shots, this is Teddy the Burnese Shepard.
Teddy is 13 weeks old and a whopping 17kg already and just the friendliest giant🐕
We posted yesterday that we had quite an unusual surgery in Tullow vet this week and had you all guessing what Amanda was holding in the image posted...
We had some great guesses but only one correct guess, it was in fact a snake egg 🥚🐍
We had a 6 year old Burmese Python in with us that had laid some eggs recently but still seemed to have a large collection of eggs that she was unable to pass herself!
When a snake becomes egg pound like this poor pet, the only treatment is surgical and so Under full general anaesthetic and with lots of careful monitoring Dr. Giovanni successfully removed a whopping 16 eggs 😲 The eggs alone weighed just under 1.5kg!
The surgery was a huge success and she came around from the anaesthetic within minuits, bright, alert and we're sure, feeling a whole lot lighter! This stunning girl is now over her surgery and doing really well in her recovery.
Stay tuned for more photos and videos of this fascinating case!
Did anyone see the Irelands Next Top Madra 2018 finalists on the Ray D'Arcy show on Saturday?
Sweet little Lola is one of our regular visitors here in Tullow vet! Didn't she do great, such a wonderful, friendly girl!
Fingers crossed for Lola and her owners in the final! Winner will be announced on November 3rd at the 2018 Pet Expo!
These not so cute little fellas were removed from a young kitten today in the clinic!
As you can imagine the poor girl who was unlucky enough to pick up these unwelcome hitch hikers was very uncomfortable with these attached.
Despite the summer days being well and truly behind us it's still important to keep up flea and tick treatments for your pets to keep them free from pests like these!
As you can see they start out as small as the little grey one in the video and can grow even bigger than the large grey one just beside it as they continue to feed on the pets blood and get more and more engorged!
If you have any questions about flea and tick treatments please call us or pop into the clinic. If you notice a tick on your pet it's important to ensure a tick is removed correctly so as not to leave the head attached to the pet, if you are unsure or do not have the correct tools to remove a tick from your pet please contact us or pop in for assistance.
