Fantastic project enjoyed by all
A Ucd vet student from the summer student research awards programme undertook a project with the human remains detection dogs(HRD) under the name of Wexford K9 Search and Rescue and find on the following
The project took place over 9 weeks working with containers and also in a natural environment.
A study to investigate the ability to detect human teeth in a variety of settings. The project received ethical approval and involved placing a tooth in a variety of mediums at different depths such as soil , sand, grass, water and stones. The ability of the dogs to detect the human tooth was recorded and the results analysed. The results are going to be presented at the SSRA award evening on 19th September . Thanks to the dogs who took part in this research. Special thanks to Rachell who co supervised the research and allowed the use of her expertise and training facilities.
