Due to the Israeli genocide in Palestine I am taking down my website as WIX is Israeli owned. We are all responsible to DIVEST from Israeli owned products to do our bit for not only the people of Palestine but humanity at large. Palestinian story person failed the horrors of the world. Even this devise I type from was made off the back of enslavement and blood Money.

The process of divestment and education is one I am committed to. I'm aware it's a massive undertaking to educate ourselves around ethics and politics while we try to survive in an online corporate world. It's going to take time to figure this stuff out. I am primarily sharing about the the genocide now. So I'm not going to be very active on anything dog related for a while. I can't get my head around talking about anything else when babies heads are being blown of their bodies.

For those of you who followed me on this page and my website, thank you. I hope and wish that all those who speak up for the effects of dogs also speak up for the ethics of human beings. Free Palestine πŸ‡΅πŸ‡ΈπŸ‰ πŸ™πŸ½

If you have ever noticed or anyone has ever told you your dog stands funny, walks funny, sits funny, runs funny, hops funny, eats funny, lies down funny, climbs the stairs funny or walks downstairs funny.... PAY ATTENTION. There are so many ways we can support our dogs that don't cost an arm and a leg at the vets.... There's a famous saying in the Dog World.... Regardless of anything else, diagnoses or not, MORE RUGS: LESS DRUGS!

🐾 KNOWLEDGE - 5 WAYS HIP ISSUES AFFECTS POSTURE 🐾

🧐 An issue in one part of the body can affect ALL of the body.
πŸ’ͺ The dog's body is designed to carry about 60% of their body weight on the front end.
🦡 Issues at the back end - such as hip dysplasia, arthritis - can change EVERYTHING.

πŸ€” What does this mean?
πŸ™ This leads to muscles becoming painful and overworked, in all the wrong places.

But what can be done? Lots!

🌟 In young dogs, building strength & helping to develop good postural strength is important, while preventing and treating any pain that they may experience.

🌟 For older we need to make sure we control the pain and inflammation they experience, while helping them to rebuild the muscle they have lost over time.

It can be really overwhelming when we have a dog that is communicating in a way that triggers us.

However, when we have an understanding of the behaviour and why it triggers us, we have a beautiful opportunity to grow and learn.

You see, how WE feel about another's behaviour is almost always about a belief system we developed growing up. Sometimes, this part is the hardest pill to swallow.

If we are "Triggered" by our dog's reactions, we have a choice. We can react or respond.

Our reactions usually cause harm. Our responses, however, give us an opportunity to examine the situation objectively with compassion and awareness. It's not easy, but it is simple, once we have the tools.

We aren't meant to do this stuff alone. Always reach out for support.

When we teach our dogs new behaviours, such as walking gently on a lead, or toilet training, we need to remember that :

FIRSTLY: They don't speak our language.

SECONDLY: They have no idea of the final destination.

We have to break each element down for the dog and build in lots of little successes over a sustained period of time, before we can expect our dogs to understand what we want from them.

So often, I see dogs conflicted and confused during their educational sessions, resulting in the dog shutting down. ( Learned helplessness)

It's easy to get frustrated when teaching new things to our dogs while thinking, "the dog should have this down by now''...

If the dog fails at any step of the process, depending on the dogs character and learning history, it is quite likely that we can induce "learnt helplessness" and reduce the likelihood of the dog learning the task at all.

This can result in the dogs confidence plummeting and overall, reduce your dog's ability to learn.

βœ…Try to keep your dog's education in small bite size, digestible chunks.

βœ…No more than three repetitions for each tiny little behavior you're trying to teach.

βœ… Give lots of breaks

βœ…Always ask yourself " is what I'm teaching necessary for the welfare of my dog?"

βœ…This will help you to build your dog's confidence which makes learning easier.

What if we changed just one word? How does that change our perception of our dog's behaviour?

How might the perception of their behaviour change the way in which we treat them?

Our belief systems directly influence the way in which we respond or react to those around us or the situations we find ourselves in.

Growth and change always starts with self-reflection. We have the power to influence outcomes by simply changing our perspective.
